In fall of '06, an M60 or BAR (cant remember which) was stolen from a vendor. I was there for a few more hours after they announced it over the PA, never heard if it was recovered.

I usually meet up with whoever is going down with me around noon at my shop. head down for the day. The night shoot, tracers and large explosions, starts at 5:00 till 10:00 or so. Then leave.

Depends on what you want to shoot. 30 rounds through an M-16 is usually 40. I put 100 rounds through a belt fed M-249 for 100 last time. Worth all 20 seconds.:D

Yes, I swear. A lot of grungy long beard guys going around giving out brochures on their militas. It was a pretty cool thing seeing all the guns being fired at once into 55 gallon drums of kerosene.

99 must have been an odd year.
I try to go both times each year and have never been approached to join a militia nor have I seen any militia material.

Maybe they put a stop to that stuff? I remember my friend warning before we went down saying guys might approach us giving us info. Needless to say it was an event Ill never forget. Very cool.

So is their "Militia" just an excuse to get drunk and shoot guns... or are they actually a bunch of crazies?

There are a bunch of crazies in Kentucky.

The guys setup doing the shooting looked fairly normal. Had the protective gear and shit on. The guys wondering around the vendor areas were the militia guys.

The guys wearing the orange shirts were the security guys. They are usually armed to the teeth. The range is concidered a cold range. If you bring a gun to the show, it is cool, you just have to unload it and let the guys put a zip tie through the receiver. I had my CCW permit and was told I still had to unload mine.
As far as the m-60 getting stolen, yeah it happened. Don't know if they caught the guy. If they did, he is probably buried somewhere down range LOL.
It is a fun day. I have been going since AOL was billed by the hour. Best place to buy bulk ammo. 1000 rounds or more. Cheaper than dirt prices with no shipping costs. Buying guns there is a little high though. I looked at a parts kit for an M-16. They wanted 799 for it. I looked it up on their web site when I got home and it was listed for 699. Should have bought it anyway. I could have had a 10 inch barrel in 9mm. Oh well.

Had a blast!!!!! Tim and I went down for the day. Got to watch 2 night shoot series. The first was at 5:00 which was in broad daylight but the explosions were cool. I got some cool pics but can't load them right now but I will later.
I found out the story behind the m-60 being stolen a few years ago. Seems the guy running the table told a customer, just a random guy at the show, to watch his table while he went to the restroom. When he came back, an M-60 machine gun was missing. The caught the guy who stole it out in the parking area.
I got some good deals on some ammo so the farm party is covered!!!

Sorry Keith, i did not get to call you. I was there also. My phone died just before i got there. The 1st night shoot was ok but the second was a blast and that is not an under statement. I took a friend down for his 1st time. His face was priceless when all the machine guns start goign off. For the 2nd night shoot (which was the 1st actual night time one) we were able to get up right on the fence. We were to the far Right next to Little Fat guys machine guns. It was a great spot.

Leaving was fun. I followed a few people to the back of the parking area and had to go up a hill steep that was nothing but dirt. It had a sign that said no exit. I had the choice of laughing at the sign and going up this hill or wait another hour plus to get out.

A question i had though was. I saw a bunch of lowers made out of plastic that a guy had for like 25 bucks. What were they for? They looked like the lower that was similar to a hk 91/93. Maybe a hkmp5? They were marked for three positions though. If you could shed any light on this for my that would be great. Thanks

John

Those were MP-5 lower pistol grips. That is not the part with a number on it.

A few more....Check the progression of the car. The orange paint spots mark the explosives. The 55 gallon drum under the car was filled with some sort of flamable liquid. The last shot was the next round of shooting. The tracers were awesome.
