My mom just had someone hit her 2004 Taurus which only has 50k miles on it and was absolutely immaculate. I was just wondering if it would be worth buying from the insurance company and parting it out? If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

that would depend on cost.....

What motor was in it.....

The transmission is worth 500.00 maybe a tad more

Ditto depends on what is in it and where it was hit...

The 3.0 24v motors go for around 800. The trans is worth 500-800 as well. If you don't want to take it apart yourself bring it up. I'll get the motor and trans out for you and scrap the car for the labor.

It is a 24v car and it was hit in the side taking out both doors and a rear quarter. Where is the best place to sell the parts at? I figured the engine and tranny would be worth a couple bucks I'm just not sure where to sell them? Thanks for all the comments guys, keep them coming

Depending on how bad it got tweaked, it might be a good candidate to cut and rebuild and get a salvage title.

I thought about that as well but with trying to get the stang done I'm not sure I want to get into another project like that.

I prefer to sell most of this stuff on craigslist because it being so much less hassle than ebay. Those engines and transmissions are always in demand so they shouldn't be to hard to sell. 2v 3.0 (vin U) motors are hard to sell because they never break.

Probably not worth rebuilding. The average Taurus with a clean title with those miles is not real strong, so a Taurus with a Salvage-rebuilt title is even a softer re-sale. Let someone do organ transplants with it if you really feel bad about letting it go the insurance auction circuit.
