Prayers Needed Too...

My father in law had a heart attack today and is in ICU. He had one artery 100% blocked and another is still blocked @ 80%. He's a firefighter, and thank god he was at headquarters when it happened, or he would not have survived. His brothers at the FD worked their asses off on him, and refused to give up! All told he was hit with the paddles about 20 times. 8-10 or so times in the life squad, 6-7 times again upon arriving at the ER, and then again when prepping for surgery. They put a stint in through his femural artery, and now we are in the waiting 48 hours mode to see if the stint holds or blows. If it blows, they will have to open him up. He's resting and has stabilized so we're keeping our fingers crossed. He's only 58 years old.

Damn, another brother having a heart attack! I'm on Cincinnati FD and we've had a rash of members having attacks the last few years also. Your right it's a good thing it was at work. If he gets through the next few days he should do fairly well. If he had any heart damage he probably will not be able to go back to work thou. I'm doing to bed soon so he'll in my prayeers too.

But I got to ask...... being a fireman that is a pretty active job.....He never showed any symptoms prior with that amount of blockage....I'm just floored....

My prayers are for him and his family!!! I lost my dad in 2006 due to a heart attack, he was only 64!!

Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. My father had a heart attack when I was 18 he was 58. It is alot to go through and very taxing on the family and emotions. I hope the best for you, your father in law and family.

Well...that's another story in itself...lol...he is one of those bull headed guys that wouldn't tell you he was hurting if (unfortunately this time) his life depended on it. It pisses me off because he mentioned it once the day before and we tried like hell to get him to go the ER, and of course he wouldn't. Maybe, after being "picked up off the mat" this will change his mentality.

Due to his brothers refusing to give up on him, he is on the mend with very little heart muscle damage, and a good prognosis. He still needs to have another procedure for the other blockage, but they're sending him home maybe today to rest up before doing the other procedure.

OMG...when it rains it friggin pours, and I aint talkin about salt!
We were just was informed they are taking my wifes grandmother to the ER for chest pains and shortness of breath! What the hell!!!
All this crap is on the heels of TWO funerals last week...Father in laws uncle, and a dear family friend's mother...HOPEFULLY things can't get much worse.
