So, I go into the garage tonight and my air compressor and all my airtools are gone. I had a friend over Sunday, we had the garage door open and left for about an hour. My g/f was home though. Anyway, the garage door was down when we got back so I never noticed until tonight. Anyway, I hate a fucking thief. I'm pretty sure I know who it was.

No doubt!
I don't leave my house unlocked, ever. I was mowing the grass last night, and still had it locked.
Let us know what happens, I hope you get your stuff back. Friggin low rents!

Tell me about it
Thanks everyone. I'm 99% sure I know who did it. Talking to the neighbors was very interesting. I'm finding out more stuff than just that. I think I'm going to move.
On a postive note, the cop was really cool. Can you imagine me saying that?

I used to leave the back door of mom's unlocked while out in the garage working late at night. One night I heard the gate for the chain link fence rattle, so I thru something at the garage door and heard someone running off.
The sliding door now stays locked and I keep "something" handy with me in the garage.
I'll give you a hint........

Wow. I hate people who take someone else's stuff. Like shop tools, compressers, air, etc etc. I say you go to this useless piece of crap's home and take your stuff back, including the air.

Well, every neighbor seems to suspect the exact same people I suspected. They were issued an eviction today. They've also gotten very defensive right up front. The woman that lives there walked by several neighbors and I and just offered, "I didn't take shit!" She then started making a case why it was her or her peice of shit man.
The guy across the street said his sister used to work with the guy. He got fired because he got caught breaking into a Mustang (of all things) in the parking lot where they worked. So basically, we already know he's a thief. I'm sure I'll never get my stuff back.

If you can, when the low lifes are getting evicted and moving, to which it seems they have been playing the game a while, stop stix.
Flatten a few tires to slow them down when leaving, then have all the neighbors out for a laugh.
Stealing the valve cores is also a nice trick. Most think nothing until they try to fill the tire and notice they can't put air into the tire. Audience again suggested.

Paul, I learned it the hard way in high school. Someone did it to me on a weekend night, lucky dad had spare cores and the tool for them.
You can also leave then loose. Slow leakers, tires will be flat in 3-5 minutes. When they goto fill them back up, they will accept air.......until you remove the air fitting and it all leaks back out. Watching them place their thumb over the stem to stop the leak is priceless :)
I get even without damaging the car. Just a minor delay.
Another example I've used when in HS, before interior hood latches people liked to mess with the firing order on my car. EAsy to figure out, 18436572 on most GM. I'd crawl under and disconnect the power cable from the starter on their GM cars.

I would buy binoculars and watch them load the uhaul or truck and when you see your stuff call the police before they leave. You could also confront him if you wanted too when you see your belongings.

I had that problem a while back. Now I etch my initials on all my tools.

MustangJon was telling me a story a while back about how his dad's tools got stolen from their summer get-a-way. Essentially, he had everything engraved so the guy couldn't pawn them and couldn't keep or sell them. So, they ended up at the bottom of Cumberland Lake.

Due to Burglary in Hamilton (butler co), the HPD and HSD are making pawn shops copy ID's of "Pawner's." If that is the county you reside in try to go shopping for your merchandise. That's how I got My I-pod back last year. It also gave some dumbass high school kid a criminal record.
