Well after going out first round last night I was a little down. This morning I unloaded my car and something just didnt feel right so I let it run and warm up a little. I did a few small revs by hand on the carb and I felt something rattling somewhere but it was bad enough I could feel it in the chassis. I shut it off and did some investigating and found this. The wierd thing is I was just talking about it last night with Kennybellcobra and 8banger at E2O. Keep in mind I just ran 10.60@137mph. I have been thinking about getting a new one recently, I think the man upstairs has been trying to tell me something wasnt right.

I forgot to add the bolt came out with my fingers.

Wow! Glad you caught that before it really did some damage...
I have a cheap ol' Powerbond on mine.... I like the Innovator's West pieces but I've heard they are a pain to install....

Wow Mike, glad to hear you found that in time! I used to run a Romac in the 408 car, but now I have a Pioneer that I got from Mike Bell. Both are good quality pieces and not too expensive.

Way back when, I had a stock one come apart on me.... not good.

Also with the old setup, and a blower I kept throwing belts off. I put a blower brace on and it helped. When the motor came apart, The balancer keyway was wore and was letting it wobble. On the new motor we had the crank double keywayed and a nice balancer put on.

I still have the romac one with the keyway that is messed up..... thought about having it fixed.

Good thing you caught that, I had one get loose and start coming off the crank. I got really lucky too.

I would pull the motor out and check it. I split my balancer some years ago and ended up with a cracked rod journal and cracks in the main webbing of the block in 5 places.
