What a good brand name for a programmer, which are good and which to stay away from. And when a programmer is installed does the truck need to be tuned on the dyno like a gas vehicle??

Edge Evolution is the best one that is plug and play. No it does not need to be dyno tuned with that one. What year diesel do you have?

I would stick with an SCT tuner. They have the best rep on the ford diesel forums. I know mine runs like its stock and picked up 3-4mpg with mine.

It depends on what truck you have...

I got about the same thing with the Evolution on the towing tune. Mine was for a 96-03 Powerstroke. I am going to sell mine and get one for my new 6.0 diesel I am getting.

I have an SCT X cal2 and on the big tune ofe 150/250 I get 17-19 city and 21-23 highway. With the tow tune and towing I only get 15-17 city and 18-21 highway depending on how hard I push it. My girlfriend cant keep her foot out of it and gets 15 all the time

It really depends on the year of the truck. I would say that with the 7.3 powerstrokes I would get the edge evolution if you are not going for top power. The edge evolution with attitude will give you all of the gauges you need in the monitor and adjust the transmission as well I believe. Now on a 6.0 powerstroke, I would go with a customer tuned SCT since thats the only way to adjust the transmissions shifts, edge wont work with the tranny on the new 6.0's which sucks. But the SCT will not be a change on the fly deal, the edge will be. I'm holding off on a SCT tuner for sure. And just get an EGT and boost and trans temp gauge for the a-pillar.

Custom tuned TS chip is the way to go on a 7.3!

Only on the 6.0 or 6.4... you get the most out of a 7.3 with a custom tuned chip.
