Ok so me and the ol lady's 1year anniversary is just around the corner and id like to take a little vacation from thurs to mon. my problem is im having a hard time coming up with anything. I've not had the chance to do much in the way of vacationing except the honeymoon and a couple trips to florida. Id like to find something in or around ohio. I hear alot about pigeon forge and places like cumberland falls etc but i have no clue what there is to do there for us. if anyone has any ideas for me id sure appreciate it. thanks

My girlfriend and I have been to Las Vegas and Key Wset and enjoyed both places. My personal favorite is Key West. I would give my left nut to move down there. Everything about the area says party your ass off.

You like riding horses? My niece is a guide on a dude ranch in NC near Asheville that is incredible...relaxing, pool, great food all of the fun!

If you want to do something different go to Toronto. I was there from last Wednsday till last Friday. Toronto is bad ass. There is a ton to do.

Virginia Beach or Kellys Island. I personally have not been to Kellys Island, But my girlfriend has been there and says it is very nice. Also Mammoth caves is a nice place to see some new things. They have a restaurant that is underground and they serve good food.

Toronto is a tad on the expensive side isn't it. I know when we went the exchange rate was about $1.52 and it was still expensive. Right now it's only $1.02.

VAB (Virgina Beach) is a 650 mile trek, not worth it today. Gatinburg/Pigeon Forge works, but crowded.

Memphis or Nashville would be my choice right now. Longer drive, but well worth it.

Oh yeah, I spent my 1 yr honeymoon in VAB, Schooner Inn, where my son was concieved.

A bed n breakfast is a cool getaway that usually scores well with the wife.

Hi
Wife and I went to Corydon and stayed in a Bed & Breakfast for one of our annv. Nice !! Stores in town to go through and we ate at a steak place that over looked the Ohio (http://www.theoverlook.com/). Stayed at the Kintner House Inn (http://www.kintnerhouse.com/). About a 2 hr drive. The wife will probably like the stores and stuff!!

put in bay is a pretty big party island. there's another close to it that is more sedate. that you could spend some time relaxing with your wife. i cant remember the name though.

my wife and i stayed there for our honeymoon. really nice place and we never seen a soul. we took an afternoon drive through the smokey mountains one day and spent an evening walking through pigeon forge after dinner on another. although there were a bunch of people in pigeon forge, if you would drive a few minutes north you got away from jsut about everyone.

Kelly's Island, someone allready said it.

I love put-in-bay/cedar point/kelly's island. Can't go wrong with any or all three in one trip. Plus about a three hour drive.

If you like hiking/outdoors stuff go to Hocking Hills/Old Man's Cave. It's about 2 1/2 hours away from Cincinnati. My wife and I go twice a year love it. FYI if you own a motorcycle great place to ride.

For Ohio - agree with Put in Bay \ Cedar Point - really fun

Tim & I went to Nashville for a few days in May - it was fun there too (if you really really hate country music maybe not so fun but there's other stuff too)

Gatlinburg is nice - has Gatlinburg side for walking around shops etc & then Pigeon Forge for truly 'tourist-trap' stuff but still lots to do - can do nature or shopping

Have fun!

I agree, I love Gatlinburg! That was the last vacation Vinny and I took together - a 4 day getaway in a chalet down there in October 2006 (great time of the year to be there, leaves changing, a chill in the air).

I think I am heading back down there this Fall for a long weekend.

wow guys, lots of ideas. I really appreciate it. Im gonna try to stay away from the tourist type locals. I know they have lots of fun stuff but are usually crowded weekends and hotel rooms are god awful expensive. im gonna look into a couple ideas and see how the misses feels about em. thanks again!
