Time has come for me to part ways with the project car. Its a 1964 1/2 coupe. Came with a 260 but now has a 289. I am posting here for ideas about what to ask.

This is a project car, its no where near complete. The motor/tranny are on stands, interior(95% done) is in my house, and most all panels are on the car. It has new innner/outer 1/4 panels, new front and rear floor pans, a new fender, deck lid, and who knows what else.

I have 5-8,000 in parts on the shelf for this car. Its in bare chassis form now. It needs the 1/4 panels and floor pans welded in and then the car needs painted. The only major things I can think the car needs to are

bumpers
headiner
carpet
gas tank
maybe a hood

I have over 10K in this car and the parts.

Should I try and sell it as is or part it out. Its sad to think about parting a 64:mad:

Pics would make a big difference in determining a selling price... Along with pics and a list of all the parts that go with the car.. Just a suggestion. But also remember that with any project, You'll never get close to getting out of it what you've put in it..

Hate to say it but it is only worth about $2000 as it sits. If you finish it it will be worth less than you have in it as of now. I did a 65 two years ago and ended up lettin it go for $7000.

Unfortunately coupes just do not bring that much. It looks like it is originally Skylight Blue? That is a 64.5 color only, so you should not get anyone questioning that. Does it still have the original dash cluster? It says GEN instead of ALT in the red alert window? Has the motor been rebuilt? What shape is the hood in? Is the front lip of the hood rolled or is there a lip? What are you looking to get out of it.
Thanks Benny

Yes gen dash, 64 specific hood,

I dont know a number. I need to lay out the parts, inventory, and then do some figuring.

I may end up parting it out to get some of the cash back.

PM me an offer, I may just take it.

Price, $4,000 firm.

I maybe asking alot but you will not find a 64 with the amount of new parts ready for minor work and nearly complete with most all new parts. I got a bid for 1500 for the body work, and maybe 1500 for new parts and that will put you at the 7K + wrench time and you will have a mint 64 coupe.

My father owned it for 15 years? and then passed it to me. Motor can strong when pulled, will need a rebuild maybe. Tranny was just rebuild before the car was disassembled

12 pics loading now. They are not all of the parts, I dont have time to unload the shelf and unpack every box. I pulled 3 boxes and thats whats you see.

The interior seats are done, and mint.

Suprised you haven't sold it for that. What is the 289 out of? What is the part number on the block? Is it a auto or manual?

Thanks Benny

Tuned200

I think the 289 was out of a galaxy. Its an auto, c4 on the floor.

I cant believe no one has picked up this car yet... a '64 with all sorts of new sheet metal and boxes of parts... and a 289/C4... Jeeze If I had the cash and the room it would be in my driveway right now...

I've always wanted a '64...

By the way... what happened to the 260?

Tuned200
09-08-2008, 10:27 AM
i have no idea where the 260 went. the car has been in my family for 15 or so years. it was bought with the 289. found out later it was a 260 car. minor details. but still important . i do have a guy from indiana coming friday to look at it.

3500 cash. That's my break point. Not really needing a trade.

I sold my 66 coupe (FINISHED) to a guy in denmark last summer, now mind you this car was completely restored, new paint, original 56K miles, original fenders and floors no rust period for $16K. Like it was said though as it is its about a $3K-$4K car, unfortunately the body work alone and paint is a PIA and expensive.

I miss mine, and if i had the place i might jump on this one. But no place to work on it right now.. good luck... it will end up being a nice car one day! DON'T PART IT OUT!!!
