What makes the lightning want to stick through a hood of anything other than a truck. its the supercharger and intake right? would a cobra intake and supercharger sit lower? How much taller of a hood would you need to keep it under? Would a 2.5" 00 cobra r hood do it? I cant stop thinking about the 3.4 liter whipple supercharger they put on that project frightning.

The 5.4 has a taller deck.

because of the increased deck height the cobra intake won't work either.

But, you'll have to admit, it would sit lower.

Dude you are comparing Apples to Oranges, Lightning are 2 valve and Cobras are 4 valve, If your trying to fit it under a hood you go 4 valve. Or do a 2 valve with adapter plates from 5.4 to 4.6 intake and put a 4.6 2v eaton on it. The lightining intercooler and upper intake is why it looks like MADMAX.

The 5.4 does have a taller deck but the design of the supercharger and it;s inlet account for more height increase than the deck. The Cobras plenum wraps around the side of the supercharger while the Lightning's is located on top of the supercahrger increasing the overall height even more.

There are guys selling everything needed to swap a 5.4L 4V into a 03 Cobra (timing cover, cut/widened lower intake, etc..) So you could get the same parts and know it ould fit under any hood the same height or taller than an 03 Cobra hood. You have to go to a 4V, but it'd fit for sure.

The cut and widened intakes are for B heads and the MMR intake is for Navi heads. The MMR intake is not a good intake and the B heads are not good heads for 5.4.

No, there are setups specifically for 03 Cobra parts only. Take a stock Cobra engine and a used Navi motor. These parts allow you to swap the 03 heads, lower intake, and blower onto a 5.4L block. It's all custom stuff. I saw a kit a guy bought but never installed on Ebay a few weeks back for about $1000.
