Okay, I've never found myself as much of a "truck guy" but the past couple of years I've had the urge to own a '65-'66 ford pickup, mainly because of the few that I've seen at the Pumpkin Run that are slammed to the ground and look barn-fresh, Thats where this now leads me...

I've got the opprotunity to own a yellow/white '66 Ford F100 longbed for the price of $1000, Its not in that bad of shape, keeping in mind it is 42 years old. The only bad part is some rust here and there, and the fact that someone hit it hard on the drivers side, BUT the truck comes with all sorts of extra parts including a bedside. the truck had a door put on it from a donor truck and the extra parts are from a donor truck. It is an original V8 truck, had a 289 in it. Story goes that it had a rod knocking so it was swapped out with a 302, and just needs finished putting back together to run (could possibly get the 289 still). and already has a 9" in it...

Now the only way I could get this truck is if I get rid of my '85 coupe, my big block project... a car that I've wanted to have and build for a looooong time, a car that Vinny himself told me to build, I'll never be able to get another 4-eyed coupe like this in a looong time. I've grown really attached to this little white coupe. and I have almost everything needed to build the car (minus BB C4bell, mounts, oilpan kit, and headers)

Build the coupe for sure, and hold out for a short bed ford truck to build!

Build the coupe and finish your dream. Once you drop the trans in D and mash the gas the first time, you won't regret letting the pick-up go.

I'd sell the coupe and get the truck and I'm not a huge truck fan either. I just love old steel more.

That actually got my imagination going when you said that Keith, thank you. I'll stick with the coupe

Well, if you look closely, there are red chairs and you cleaning the car... what did we do to that car of yours the night before? lol

I love old steel too, I've always wanted something very old, my dad has a '65 Fairlane with a 289 hi-po, and I've always wanted an old ford to go along with it, the oldest thing I own is a '77:o I wouldnt care if whatever I owned was full of holes when I got it

BTW i'm not 100% sure but i think the 66's only came with 300 I6 or 352's. I don't think they were offered with a small block.

I have no idea, I was told it was a 289 that was in it... so your guess is as good as mine when it comes to the facts here.. and I actually like the longbed, looks a lot better when its slammed on the ground, as compared to a shortbed, which i think would look better pro-streeted

Yeah, I know, thats why I want one. If I could just come up with another way to make up the cash to get it, I could probably walk away with it for $800, which to me is a steal for something that was in the process of being restored/modified. If I owned it, the only thing that would change would be that I would weld on the bedside and other missing/damaged parts, and lower the phuq out of it, and just drive it just like it sits.

... And to top it all off, I was watching "Walk the line" today and in the movie there is an all white '66, and I was like... "damn, its a sign!"

My dad had a 64 long bed in 1990 that was pro streeted. It had a built 428CJ, C6, 'glass fenders and hood, shaved, and slammed, and custom gray interior. It was blue, and it looked killer and was a blast to drive, I wish he would have kept it. :(
