What is the likelihood of having a tornado in the Cincy and Northern KY area?

Of course it is rare to have a Tornado in a metropolitan area, it has happened. Atlanta is the only one I can remember off the top of my head.

Any one know the science behind the lower chances?

I live out in the country (Mechanicsburg) About halfway between Columbus and Dayton, So there is always a good chance of a Tornado where I live!!!!

I would only be impressed if it was all 3, in the same shot.

I can see my old shop in the first picture. I miss my paint booth :( It looks like ass painted red. I lived there for 8 years and saw way worse stuff than that and it always blew over. It sure gets scary though.

Yea...not many Skyscrapers there chief... unless i missed a few....

Especially when I make a reference to Atlanta being a Metro area...not uh....3 buildings in the middle of a field off 71.

It's the heat.
Tornadoes are created by hot air and cold air mixing rapidly. Ever notice it getting really cold before a large storm?
Larger metropolitan areas create a lot of heat which slows down the mixing of the cold and hot air. It's the rapidness of the mixing of the different temperatures that creates the tornado.

There are 3 buildings that suffered cataclysmic damage. One was a warehouse, and the other 2, commercial buildings, that even now, just kind of sit by them selves off 71.
The other building that suffered some damage was the Tri Health complex.

That is a long cry from downtown Atlanta.

So, 4 people dead and over $25 million in damage to homes and businesses ain't nothing?

I guess I'm the only one that remembers the numerous tornados that hit the area in 1978. Especially one that jumped the Ohio river from Saylor Park to Ky and back. Yes the chances are rare for a tornado in this area but it has happened.

Can you find that in print any where, any for sure stat to back that up? I vaguely remember hearing about a death on the high way, but nothing else.
Not that I can find any stat saying differently, I am just genuinely asking.

Additionally, "[warehouse, 2commercial buildings, the Tri Health complex.]" > Nothing
