:confused:So here's the deal, When I was 17 I bought my mustang (v6 due to insurance). I am very partial to the car and really really don't want to get rid of it, it's still in very nice shape and only has 70k miles on it, however it's still a single port v6. For my 21st birthday my dad gave me a mid 70's 302 that we have sitting in the basement. I really want to go through it and build a nice little 300hp motor, gain some experience and knowledge, and drop it into my car. The car is a 98 and honestly I just know a few minor things such as I will need 94-95 5.0 motor mounts, I will for sure need an 8.8 rearend, etc. Seriously any tips, advise, articles, how-tos, words of encouragement etc. would be greatly appreciated. I have done some searching but to no avail. Wiring is my main concern. But I have so many questions, such as how the fuel system will work with keeping the stock tank, will my t-5 bolt up to this motor, or even hold up, ignition and power accessories crap, throttle cables, am I getting into too much? Will I be spending an arm and a leg?

I do not believe your T5 will work. In 96-98 cars, I am 99% sure the starter bolts up differently. I know for sure that 94-95 GT's had a 2 bolt starter, and the 96-98's have a 3 bolt starter. I also believe the 96-98 bellhousing is different. You would need a 5 speed out of a 94-95 GT, or a T5 out of a fox and then swap out the input shaft, bearing retainer, and get a bellhousing from a 94-95 (which is what I did).

Also, you will need a K member if your car is a 96-98, as it is different. If you decide to do it, I am selling a 94-95 K member that would work for ya cheap.

Its a big project, and will take some work, but I swapped a 5.0 in a 96 V6. Had it running, just ran oput of funds and parted it out :(

There is a lot more involved. Its not really a super difficult swap like some make it out to be, it just depends on if you want to put the time and money into it. If you are really interested, you can hit me up. I have a lot of docs and wiring diagrams still from when I did mine.
