Maximum Motorsports sells a tool to remove and install the housing bushings for an 8.8 rear end, but I kind of don't want to drop 30 bucks on something I'll use once. Anybody have one of these I can borrow for a couple of days?

Hey Paul, maybe this will help you out. I found out the hard way. The factory bushing has the metal sleeve on the outside, that actually pounds into the casting ear of the housing. Just take a decent size drill bit and drill out the rubber of the bushing. If you start between the rubber and the sleeve and just let the bit roll itself around, it will literally just eat up the rubber and fall out. Use a good size bit though, I broke a couple of small one's trying to be gentle.

I originally was going to go that route, but at this point I think I'm going to throw some stockers back in there, and for that you have to put a new shell in too.
At least I think that's what I'm doing now. Sometimes I have no idea.

In that case, all you need is a hammer. They pop right out.
