The tornado sirens were going off downtown. I went outside to investigate, it was raining so hard I couldn't stand out there, even under the canopy.

I agree, I don't think the sirens should sound unless there is a funnel cloud spotted or something along those lines, it is too confusing otherwise. The news and weather radios are for thunderstorm warnings.

My drive to work was crazy! It kept getting darker as I drove around 275 and once I hit Milford/Loveland area I met a massive black wall of clouds, like driving into the mouth of the monster! Traffic pretty much stopped, there wasn't any visibility since it was so dark and the rain/hail was so heavy. Good time. Hope everyone is safe this morning.

They have been doing that for a couple of years now. I remember the first time they went off, I was in bed and Vinny came and woke me up and told me to come down in the basement with him. We thought for sure there was a tornado getting ready to hit, we didn't know about the thunderstorm WARNING sirens. Stupid if you ask me.

I slept right through the ones going off last night. :lol:

I got home yesterday to my pool about 2 feet below the water stage it should be (below the skimmer). Somehow, the hose came off the pump and the water leaked in my backyard, I won't be mowing for awhile. The pump burnt up too. :mad: Luckily my good buddy Auston has an extra one, so he's coming down today to hook it up. But I'm pretty sure the wind/weather yesterday knocked the hose off.

My understanding is that not everyone was happy about that decision but the city's feeling is that people become rather complacent about the sirens when they go off for every little storm that blows up.

Complacency is my concern as well. When I woke up this morning to the sirens, I immediately checked the television. When they said it was just a storm, I went back to bed. If that happens enough times, I'll probably start ignoring them.

I believe the warning sirens are a good idea.
Along with an automatic weather alert radio.
A couple was asleep in their second story bedroom during the tornado that hit Blue Ash and Loveland. They were impaled in a tree in their yard. The warnings are better now than they have ever been. Please don't take this lightly, just because there we no touch-downs. It was because of the advanced warning that students escaped the Van Wert tornado just before it leveled the building they were in, after they took cover.
Everyone needs to be alert during these periods, and be sure their loved ones and neighbors are aware of these storms.
