SAO5, Snell SA, Snell M. Whats the difference?
I did goto www.smf.org/ Didn't help much.

The "SA" rating stands for automobile usage the numbers following (05) signify the standards year that the particular helmet meets. The "M" rating stands for motorcycle. The biggest difference between the automobile rating and the Motorcycle rating is that the SA units have fire retardant liners. (There are other differences too, but the fire rating is the biggest).
Every auto racing sanctioning body I know of does not permit "M" rating helmets and now most bodies require the Snell SA 00 as a minimum.
If you are buying a new helmet, buy the best you can afford, your noggin is worth it!
