What's the best way to remove the adhesive and tape off the body panels that is left from pulling the side moldings off? I don't want to hurt my new paint. I had to pull off the side moldings to have my paint guy redo them.

Goo gone may be your best shot! I have citrus based stuff for getting the residue left after removing stickers and it kicks ass, if you need some of that, let me know.

I've had good luck heating up the glue with a hair dryer or heat gun to loosen it up and using a piece of dental floss to remove the trip. Any residual glue can be taken care of with goo gone and some patience.

3m makes an eraser wheel you chuck in a drill and it rolls ot off the finish. Easiest wayto do it. Chemicals suck

Bo's right but be carefull if its fresh paint.
You should still be very carefull whatever way you do it if you have fresh paint.

I'm pretty sure Goo Gone is just citrus powered so it *should* be ok on the paint. Either way if you have enough clear coat down (assuming it's single stage paint) you could still buff out any blemishes it leaves.

Still debating this? Hmm I only painted 1000's of cars and used what I recomended countless times. What do I know

Yep....Kevin "Dedpedal" donated his thumbs and got most of the old adhesive off. I got one of the 3m eraser wheels...worked pretty good on the rest...actually to good. It rubbed threw the paint in a place..but it will be hidden once the new trim pieces go back on the car.
