People can say all they want but their ACTIONS speaks volumes!

Next time your on I-75 look around! You'll see what I'm talking about!

Do you see anyone poking around doing the Speed limit (or less) ??

Hell no! Everyone is doing 80 MPH PLUS !! (Me, one of them!  :bigthumb )

I get on 75S from 74 @ 6:45 PM, I do 60-62, keeping pace with most of the trucks, trying not to get ran over. Cops have been thick lately, I won't throw $100-150 away because I'm in a hurry.

Same here, but Im ususlay sitting on the hill where traffic doesnt move fast anyways. I get bad stares when I drive the black car, but it gets as good if not better mileage than my 2.5 subaru. Figure that one out.

I was gonna buy a Subbie, but when rated on 25 highway mpg, I said no thanks.

Yet when it snows it would be nice to have. Like 3 days a year, not worth it.

i'm sorta-kinda-maybe interested in a new car..... but the one i like best has the same MPG as the one i drive now (avg 26) and i am having a really hard time justifying selling a nice paid-off car for one that really doesn't do anything better.......

Most folks don't realize that depreciation is the #1 cost of vehicle ownership! Far out weighs the cost of fuel!

Which Scoobie were you looking at? The WRX and Legacy are both rated at 28mpg highway. With the AccessPort EPA tune you should be able to bump that up to 30+. :bigthumb I know my co-worker did that prior to going stage 3. I don't think he can run the EPA tune any more.

ETA:
I run ~70-75mph on cruise control, I get 36mpg instantaneous in the Mazda3, as long as I am not pulling a hill.

I don't really but then again I don't pay for gas in my daily! :D If my Mustang bugs me on gas usage - it stays in the garage! So far the the juice has been worth the squeeze though!

I think most people like to bitch about it but when it comes to sacrificing something they just aren't willing to do it. People don't want to give up their SUV and pickup trucks for their solo commute but they will bitch about the price of gas when they fill up.

Drove the hot rod around abit in florence a few times this last week(and up to the cruise in)and got the weirdest looks ...a few thumbs up but most looked at me like I was retarded for driving such a GAS guzzler.....Truth is,like said,,stays in the g-roge for the most part,,and ride the bike(50 MPG) or the little chevbbie 30 mpg....whats really sad is a few(strange lookers were driving big ol Truck or SUV.....) which the little stang can get just as good of mileage as those.... :flipoff:. vehicles(if driven respectfully)

I have the 2.3L, 5spd sedan. (I couldn't find a cartoon Mazda3 sedan :( ) But it is the same engine. Similar weight. Hatch is ~150lbs heavier.

A few people have gotten a taller 5th gear to lower RPMs and get even better EPA. I'm still thinking about installing the taller 5th gear or the MS3 6spd when the clutch goes out. :D

FYI, there have been a lot of arguments about the Mz3 not meeting EPA estimates by many drivers. IMO, they either can't do math or can't keep out of the Zoom-Zoom.

I was looking at 2000 and older Forestor automatic. I don't like the gated zig zag shifter.

Push button, pull back 4 clicks, go forward.

Most people won't check the air in their tires, let alone slow down. I'm definately in the 80+ MPH crowd though.

My 2006 Honda Civic Auto does great so far. I am 35plus average all the time. On 70-72 mph road trip it got 40mpg

I had to go to Columbus Wednesday morning and I was amazed by the speeds on I-71. I had the cruise on 70 mph and two cars passed me the entire time. The high gas prices make me appreciate the Z06 even more: 505 HP and 28.7 mpg with cruise on 70!

My 95 4 dr Civic does about the same, with a bad headgasket!

Front tires are 42 psi
Rear tires are 38 psi

I check them weekly.

1995 civic 2213lbs
2006 Civic 2740lbs

There is a lot more weight in them now with a bunch of airbags and it is alot bigger car. I like it

Basically an Accord now.

I'm looking for another 94-95 4 door, 5 speed this time.

Ease and cost of maintaince.

2000-2003 VW Jetta or Beetle TDI, these cars run great and forever, and most important on my Jetta worst mpg I have had was 43 mpg, the best was all highway at 53 mpg... Even with Diesel above $4/gal, it's still better/cheaper than any car on the road today for mpg... :bigthumb

I'm loving this CRX. I'm spending about $230 per month between insurance and gas, and I drive a minimum 34 miles per day back and forth to work. By far the cheapest car to drive I've ever owned. 40mpg is very nice!

right now, even with the extra BTU per gallon of diesel, it's about the same. Before the prices jumped for the low sulfer diesel, TDI's rocked.

Although VW's are a PITA to work on. When Honda brings their diesel to the US, VW will have some stiff competition.

5.0calypso93lx. see why I've enjoyed my Hondas for so long. It's no stang for sure, but has kept me happy. I wish my HB didn't get totalled, right now is perfect for it 50 mpg tune, a best of 53 mpg. All about tuning.

I've tuned on a Honda, great mpg AND hp from a 1.5L, 53 mpg/121 whp.

I've tuned on a 6.8x/218 mph Top Sportsman car, reading plugs, outside cylinders I suggest going up one jet size on the fuel on the third stage @ 400 hp.

I've tuned RC cars, tonight I was #1 qualifier, lead the A main from start to finish, was 3 feet from putting second place along with the rest of the field a lap down.

Just be glad I don't have the budget to play with faster stuff, it doesn't bother me that I can't either. I'm quite happy with what I've done with very little.

I want Toyota's diesel Tacoma. :cool2:
