Got the intercooler lines made up, Intercooler resv. mounted, coolant tank mount fabbed up and installed.

The intercooler pump is mounted low on the core support

'92 festiva radiator mounts turned out to be perfect for mounting a modular radiator in a fox.
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w191/quikcoupe/project%2032valve/Picture150.jpg

Just need a '03 cobra heat exchanger and the intercooler system is done. Now to the fuel system.

Fabbed up a stainless steel bracket to mount the regulator, not alot of room with this thing in here. I had to mount it on the side of the blower were the old intercooler line brackets attached. I did get to TIG weld the first part on the car (been practicing at work) Kinda proud of it. Polished out the fuel rails too I didnt like them black.

Got a few things done in the last couple weeks.

Finally found a set of cam cover gaskets. Who knew these were so rare?!

Bought and installed the Hydra-boost lines. (Not fun at all!)
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w191/quikcoupe/project%2032valve/coupenext001.jpg

Bought and installed the throttle cable. Of course not a direct bolt in even though its a 2001 motor and 2003 pedal. Ended up having to space the pedal off the firewall 3/8 inch to get the slack outta the cable. Works fine now, I have full throttle!!!
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w191/quikcoupe/project%2032valve/coupenext002.jpg
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w191/quikcoupe/project%2032valve/coupenext003.jpg

Ordered an aluminum rear wing from Victory Fabrication up near Dayton, should have that back in a week or so.

I got the Canton aluminum '03 Cobra battery tray mount inter-cooler surge tank ordered for Christmas (Thanks Maggy!) I was think'in about asking Kenny to powder coat it in that black chrome stuff along with the aluminum Canton radiator overflow tank. Might look sweet!
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w191/quikcoupe/project%2032valve/vt300199.jpg

Gotta get to Cincy Spped this week and pick up a T-56 clutch cable, (to make sure I left enough room for it) a new set of plugs, (so I can final mount the fuel rails, regulator, coil packs, wiring harness, and throttle body.

After that I just need a CAI, electric fan, and finish up fuel lines and the engine bay is done! Just pray our tax refund is enough for a good used T-56, SPEC clutch, and a drive shaft.!!!

The camaro one is different unfortunatly...and tell him $1700 is too much to ask (unless its a Viper spec), there are 20K mile '03/'04 cobra ones out there for $800-$1200. And a rebuilt one from smart parts is $1195.

Well I took advantage of the warmer (read 40 deg) weather and got some work done. Rob out at Ridgid got my intercooler heat exchanger fixed, after the fiasco with another welding shop. I got it mounted up, filled the tank up with water and hooked it up to a battery. This thing moves some water!

Since that was the last thing under the front end I got to mount up the bumper cover and drivers fender. (still some wiring in the pass fender to deal with) It almost looks like a car again.

Not a big deal, I had to lower the heat exchanger a bit, but there is plenty of room for the hoses. You can't see anything but the top of it with the nose cover on anyway. I'll get back to ya when I get that head so you can fab up that rear primary. Thanks again dude!:bigthumb:cool1:

All the engine bay fuel lines made and installed
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w191/quikcoupe/project%2032valve/newyears.jpg

I added a six circuit fuse panel to the back of the glove box for all the added acces. and the key switched functions of the computer. My Jegs junction should be in tomorrow which will let me run the constant hot to the computer and to the fuse panel (through a key switched relay). Just have to figure out the brake lights...the switch opens when you press the pedal, I guess I'll have to put a relay in and switch it off when the pedal is pushed to give me brake lights. Other than that I'm gonna put a battery in it and start turning on circuits.

When is going to make some noise, Joe?

We put a battery in it last night and tested a few systems.

Things that worked:

Fuel pump, inter-cooler pump, radio, gauges, running lights, FAST air fuel unit, starter relay clicked (don't have the cable to the starter yet).

Things that need figured out:

Brake lights-brake pedal switch on the '03 pedals is normally close (reverse of the 5.0) probably gonna use a relay to turn on the brake lights.

Alternator-schematic looks easy so no biggie.

electric fan circuit is complicated since the computer controls it, but I gotta plan.

We are waiting on relays to finish the wiring...and a bonus check for the gas tank, bell housing, and a few odds and ends. then it will be down at the shop for a tune...I wanna be driving it by April!!!!

do it yourself "low profile" steering shaft kit from Flaming River went in...

looks good!

what is left to do?

Order fuel tank (yes...still) plum fuel lines from pump to engine, order up the JLT air intake kit (I'm sure it will need modified to fit:(), Run the fan trigger wire from the computer to the fan relay, wire in the tach adaptor (I havent bought it yet), I need a 96-04 offroad short H pipe, and a small list of dumb stuff that kills you like:

battery
shift knob
shift bezel & boot
5 pt harnesses
seats
cowl panel
Fuel filter element (aeromotive)
02 sensor
02 sensor custom harness from detail zone

and after all that it will still need a tune and alginment and insurance.

It will progress steadily now that the 2 cars sold though:cool1:

If you are pretty sure you are going to need to modify the JLT why not just get some PVC from Lowes or Home Depot and make your own? Once you paint it no one will know the difference.

Not much new to post up, after we watched a special on the Hot Rod Power Tour, and saw how much fun it looked like, we changed a few things to make the car alittle more comfortable on a week long trip.

I installed a power port in the console (I sealed the original ashtray door shut years ago) for the GPS and cell phone chargers, found and modified the wheel well liners, to keep the water out from under the hood and off the wiring. Were gonna scrap buying aftermarket seats, and modify the roll cage shoulder bar (I need more leg room). The stock LX seats match the rest of the interior, they are in perfect shape, and are really comfortable (and light!!!!!) Plus they fully articulate to allow for multiple drivers. I found the wiper motor and re-clocked it to clear the hydra-boost lines. I also had to lenghthen the harness to reach it, but we have working wipers now.

The car is fully assembled and I have finally ordered the gas tank, I'm glad I waited, Glenns performance just dropped them another 50 bux!!! So with any luck I will be starting this thing in a couple of weeks.
Stay tuned.

According to the ford schematic for 2001 the 4 valve is wired like this:

Large gauge black and orange wire from battery goes to large lug.

Small yellow/white tracer wire goes to constant 12V source through a 20 amp fuse.

Light green/red tracer wire goes back to charge lamp in the dash.

White/black tracer wire is terminated in the harness.

The 2 valve is identical with a different connector with no white/black tracer wire.

I was doing some rewiring the other day and found that w/b wire that just kinda ended in the wire loom.Bare end and all.I thought i might have cut it years ago.But couldnt find anywhere where it would have gone so I just taped it up and went on.

Well after a couple hours on the dyno, we found that the left O2 sensor was not reading back to the computer, The short term fuel schedules were maxed out. I could not get continuity back to the computer from the sensor on the sense wire. I spent a little time trying to find it, then just ran a new wire. Now, according to my X Cal3, short term fuel scheduling is correct (hovering back and forth around 1.0) so as soon as I get a free day it will go back to the dyno. I'll keep you updated.

i love blower whine lol. are you going to keep it how it is for awhile, or do you have more mods planned for the winter?

Thats actually more than we were expecting HP wise. I think the rods are about maxxed out, so no more performance mods until the shortblock is upgraded. This power should put it in the 10's...we'll see.

joe, you ever going to sell this one? im guessing no with all the time you have in it. put me down on the waiting list if you ever decide. im so tired of looking at all the junk out there for sale. i want either an 03-04 cobra or something like yours... my empty garage misses a mustang sitting in it...

Right now with blower whine in my ears....don't think I could let it go....but I said I'd never get rid of the blue one either. If a certain '69 SS396 4 spd Chevelle comes up for sale...I don't know.

Nice Joe....glad to see you get the new combo bugs worked out of it. It's making more than enough power to get into the 10's..just gotta drive it. Any idea of how much it weighs with you in the car? 3000-3100ish?

It was 2900 before removing the A/C, and adding the tubular front end. I did add the cage, but the motor has to be much lighter also...I had to get 2 inch shorter coil over springs to bring the front end back down after the swap. I'm guessing 2750 without me???? I'm 180 ish.

I'm not really liking this TKO so far on the street...I've missed 3rd twice...hopefully its just the pro 5.0 shifter. I've always used Hurst's.

I ran a pro5.0 on my old 3550....I would always on the 2-3 shift just shove it basically straight forward but with the heel of my hand on the left side of the shifter knob....when right into 3rd everytime.

my tko does the same thing, and sadly i have heard that that is what they do. they don't like high rpm shifts much. i have to double clutch from 2 to 3. but if you do figure it out let me know lol

I think you have to get it proshifted and faceplated.... then hold your butthole cuz that's gonna be expensive

But I could be wrong

I use to have the original TKO w/ a pro 5.0 shifter and I could never get that thing to shift into third right. I just always thought it was me. I think I would try another shifter just to see if it helps.
