Is there power to be had on a stock 88 with full exhaust and CAI buy converting to Maf? I have never read up on the map stuff, but I don't want to get crazy with the "cruiser" just looking for all the easy tweeks to be had cheap, and thought this might be one

No. and actually a speed density car will run stronger than a maf, stock for stock. Its when you start doing mods like HCI where speed density is needed. If those are the only mods you will be doing for a while I would stay speed density. In your mod list above I don't see gears.... that would be the next thing I'd go with....

Easy tweeks on a Speed Density car.
Like Fst5pto said a gear.
Weight is bad loose weight
1.72 roller rockers with stock cam
Electric Fan
Short Belt bypassing power steering and smog
Bump the timing
Slicks
Drive it like you want to kill it.
It doesnt take much to make a speed density car run high 13's with an AOD or low 13's on a stick car

You can pretty much do any mods to a SD car but a bigger cam. As soon as you swap out the stock cam...you need to switch to mass air to get it to run right.

Well I had planed on most of that except I am keeping ps. I also am going to install the Pa performance valve body and full synthetic fluids

My 88 ran 13.80 with all of the above when it was very stock with an AOD. I still had PS I just ran the short belt at the track
