A little while ago I rescued a 93 coupe that was going to the scrap yard.I live in Canada.Alot of our cars here are junk.(rusty)I have some good friends in New Hampshire. They are into the mustang scene pretty hard. They called me and told me about this car.It is a 4 banger car with a black gut.:)Just what I was looking for to build my next ride.I have an 83 coupe now that has seen better days.It was run for years with a BB 460 in it and was never frame connected and was twisted up alot. This car has a 351 and a stick in it now and runs 11.7 on motor and 11.1@126 on the hurt(nos). The only thing that is bad on this 93 is that someone that owned the car before me put an aftermarket sunroof in it.:mad:So I will be roof skinning the car. Also the rad support is not the greatest so that will be swapped also.As soon as I figure out how to get some pics on here I will post them up to show the progress.I have to get this car finished so I can get to work on a 93 hatch that my wife brought from the states also. She has a 91 hatch now that has gone 12.7 in the 1/4.It has a 302 with a stick.Well gotta get to work on the coupe.:chug:

Putting the car up on a rotissarie.I am a little lazy after all these years of beating on mustangs. My body can't take lying on the ground anymore.A little scary at times getting the car up on but well worth it.Once the work is done I just have to figure out how to get the car back on the ground.:D

Thanks for all the info.I have to get to work on the coupe soon as I want to have this thing ready for the track in the spring.I need to retire my old 83 coupe soon.I finally hit the 10's with it last time at the track. It's getting a little twisted,as it is a stick car...LOL Thanks again.

Finally got a cage ordered from wolfe racecraft, 10 pt cromoly, coil over shock bar, window net kit, heater bar, through firewall bars, through floors and mini-tubs. Can anyone suggest to me a good place to get a narrowed housing? What are the dimensions to ask for and also what back spacing for the wheels should I be looking for.I am going with a 325/50/15 drag radial...Thanks much appreciated

Stock wheel wells will hold a 15x10 w/6.5"b.s., I think you can narrow by about 1.75", which would bring your b.s. to 4.75". You may want to consider using 9" ends, that will keep you from using c-clip eliminator's. Moser should be able to handle the narrowing, or a local fabricating shop, check with hot rodders in your area. Cool project.

You will probably need to trim the lip in your wheel well also, you may want to do that before paint.

The rear end setup in my car is real similar to this. Narrowed 1.5 inches, with a 15x10 with a 5.5 back space. Instead of trimming the wheel well lip, it was rolled.

Thanks for the info guys...the cage, wheel tubs, etc. will be here shortly.Time is the issue now.As long as I can stay away from sledding this year I will make good progress on this project. Thanks again. 01-11-2010, 10:24 PM
Well i finished the passengers side through floor tonight...now the debate whether to start the cage or do the mini-tubs next.Would like to do the cage but I think it would be easier to do the mini-tubs before the cage.Figured out a few more things on the engine combo today.Bought a set of heads, cam, intake, headers and possibly crank and a set of rods... does anyone know how far an 351w based svo block can be bored safely? It is 40over now but needs to go more to match a set of pistons I have a chance to get. Thanks.
AZZKIKR
01-18-2010, 12:09 AM
Well I got one mini-tub in this weekend and started cutting out the other wheel well.Alot of screwing around doing those when you have no idea what you're doing...lol...picked up my kooks headers 2" primary and 3 1/2" collector.Brodix/Neal cylinder heads, intake to match,T&D shaft mount rockers, cam, lifters, and ordered a set of CP pistons.Thats about it for now and I will get some pics up this week of the mini-tubs.Hope to have it done this week. After this will be the cage...

01-18-2010, 01:42 AM
As for disk brakes, I am sold on aerospace brakes. I have them on both my race cars. They are priced well and work great. As for svo block, have it sonic tested, then make your decision on how far to bore it. Costs a little but well worth the investment considering the alternatives.

Thanks for the info.Much appreciated.Ran into a major set back today with the block(9.2 deck)and the other stuff I have here is for a 9.5 deck.I don't know much about engines as far as building them so this is a learning lesson for me.I have the problem solved but it cost a few bucks.Man-o-war block will fix it.The engine will now be a 427 cuin engine.

Here is a few pics of the mini-tub process and the Kooks headers...and yeah I wish you guys were closer to me too as it would help me stay focused on building the car.Sometimes it's hard to stay on track.I have some great friends from(NH and CT)that helped me strip the car down but again they are a ways away. One good thing I have going here is my wife drag races too so she helps me out here and there and she understands this DISEASE...lol...if you guys see anything here I am doing wrong let me know as I need all the help I can get.I want to certify the car sometime to 8.50. Thanks.

And a few more... I am ordering a set of Mickey Thompson DR this week to check fitment.I am going to be getting a set of 15x12 wheels sometime and the tires I am using are a 325/50/15.Does anyone know the measurements for the rearend? I am going to call strange here soon or if anyone knows where I can get a housing that is narrowed, complete or even bare that they want to sell let me know as I am in need of one.Would like to find one that has the wheelie bar,anti-roll and coil over brackets welded on.Thanks.

I need to finish the car Im doing for someone else and then get busy on mine. I bought the mini tubs but havent started yet. I'm planning on running a 12 inch rim with a 3 inch offset. Having 2 teenage drivers with one in college definitely slowed the car funds down. I gotta find a rotisary though. Yours is looking good. Very similiar to my coupe. :bigthumb
AZZKIKR
01-26-2010, 10:41 PM
Thanks Chris,I will get it sorted out then shoot you some measurements.I may have to send you my anti-roll bar tabs and shock brackets so they can be welded on too. While I am at it I may get a set of wheelie bar brackets also.Thinking the rear will be shortened 2" on each side and using 9" ends as you mentioned and setting up for disc brakes too.I got the tig welder tonight and I just need to get a plug for my 220 outlet, tungsten tips and some rods so i can get at it.Also notched the seat brackets for the rocker bars tonight.Thats about it for now.

Thanks Saul...just think soon we will be in Bradenton,FL at the springbreak shootout!!!Today I got the holes cut for the rear bars to go through the package tray.Had to square the main part of the cage and got it tigged to the floor.Little bit of a bitch but it's pretty well perfect.Hope to get the rear bars welded in and one rocker bar as they sent me only one...anyway I have a piece of moly tube coming for the other side this week.Should be able to get the door bar in too and fit the through fire wall bars too tomorrow or should I say later today...lol...thats it for now.

I drove my mustang today. It felt great. Was playing around with the tune.
It runs real well. Safe under boost right now. More to play with and learn but my dumbass can only take so much ;)

A few pics of testing the housing in the car. I borrowed a set of rims and tires to check the back spacing.Hope to order rims soon. With these wheels there is lots of room on the inside and I just have to trim the wheel well lips a little.

I think its gonna be a little stiff with those wood blocks...
Ohhhh and what wheels are these?
AZZKIKR
07-22-2010, 11:05 PM
American Racing, 15x12 with 6" BS. I think I am going to see if I can get 61/4" BS so I don't have to do much to the wheel well lips. Going to call them tomorrow. Team Z Motorsports told me 6-61/2" will work. These wheels look really good on there but I have to cut around 3/8" off the lips...

We went ran an 11.68@117. Has been 11.47 on motor and 10.72 on 125 shot.Made 5 passes with it rattling. Won 3rd in my class. Set the valves and the noise was still there. I think it's a rod bearing.Oh well not bad for 7 years of torture, always with a stick and has had alot of nitrous ran through it(25-30 bottles) lol. Question is now to rebearing the 351w and change the cast pistons to forged or build a stroker for it... We will see as I am still debating. I don't want to pull funds from the 93 project car. I am leaning towards a 392 with the canfield heads but that means headers, solid roller cam,etc...I don't think the chassis is going to handle it though.Decisions,decisions...I will post what I decide to do and a few pics.

Well been awhile since I have posted on here so here's an update. Ended up freshening the 351w. Had to use another block as the original one was cracked up the middle. Put it back together with the same combo. Car ran good until I broke the G-Force t-5. I have parked that car. We made a trip to the shakedown and watched that race and had a great time. I ended up buying a car down there as I am not going to have time to get this 93 coupe ready for this coming race season. Picked up a stock suspension drag radial 99 GT,4.6 with a TCI ProX glide. Runs on 275 radials. Nice car. I will post pics sometime. Does anyone know what is involved to get a liscence to race in the U.S.??? Thanks. Might come down and try a few X275 races this coming year.

Thanks guys, it's coming along. It has a 4.6 with an F1R Procharger. TCI Pro-x glide. Complete stock suspension car, no mini-tubs. I have 325/50/15 DR's on it now but was run with 275's. Thought I would use the 325's to learn on for starters.Should be fun. I have alot to learn...

AZZKIKR
03-24-2011, 10:53 PM
The hood is made by VFN and the coils are gm. Hope to get out testing soon.Sent the hood out to get repaired as it had a chip in the corner and a few spider web cracks from it blowing onto the ground from the previous owner.Should be fun as long as it stays together.

Well I've had great luck with my TCI Pro X glide in my other car so I am thinking of getting one of those, just built a little better and do a swap so the better tranny is in the blower car and the other in this build... unless I find a deal somewhere...see what happens
