Whats the best sounding exhaust out there. I'm looking at Flowmaster, Mac and Magnaflow. I've had Flowmaster and Mac on previous cars but never on a mustang. I like magna flow, mostly because you can buy a complete stainless system, including x-pipe, but I've never heard a magnaflow exhaust on a 5 liter mustang. Can't wait to piss off the neighbors !:D

MAC are awesome with an X pipe, as well as Magnaflow. Magnaflow are good if you like to be more civil while driving around town but like it to scream at WOT. They're nice and mellow under normal driving conditions and they don't have any drone at cruising speeds.

Here's a clip of all MAC, full length headers, X pipe and cat-back (fordfan's GT):

I also LOVE Spintech, but they're pretty much rowdy all the time:

Here's a nice Magnaflow clip with an X pipe:

I have have Mac on my car with long tubes and off-road H pipe right now and I am pretty happy with the sound. I will be switching to a catted x pipe to please the wife (she hates the smell when I start it up in the garage). I do love the sounds of Dynomax race magnum bullet style mufflers and they definitley are on the loud side.

Sounds awesome on 4.6 or 5.0 and if you can find a stainless one it sounds even better:bigthumb

I've Heard alot of folks say Macs for Fords and Flowmasters for Chevys. They both sound pretty similar to me. Thanks a ton for all the feedback !

I have Hooker LT's w/Hooker OR X and magnaflow cat-back and couldn't be happier with the sound. It's quiet until you lay into it and then it sounds awesome! I was going to try and get an exhaust video up before to long. I'll let you know when I do.

for being mostly stock(I know it has h/c but it's not built to the gills, I think a stocker would sound similar with that exhaust) the car in this video is one of the best sounding fox bodies I've heard...I don't think it'd make a good daily tho

on mine it's mac shorties into o/r h and flowmasters then dumps before the rear axle...it sounds good but at cruising speed there's a drone that get's annoying.

i'm personally a fan of mac. that's what i have on my car.

my dad put ford racing shorties, o/r h-pipe, and flowmaster 40s on my mom's 86 5.0 and it sounds pretty sweet now, but i still prefer mac over flows and have changed my dad's mind too.
