So on my way to school this morning a woman in a big ass van decide she would cut out in front of me...and well now the mustang is totaled..words can not describe how i feel right now. I'm seriously so pissed off because all the work Ive put into it is gone...sub frame is tweaked over and the front apron is pulled down. the impact also cracked the windshield. and well the seat belts did there job. until mine gave way and now my head reallllllllly hurts from smacking the steering wheel...everyone was ok so that's the only good part about this. i know its totaled...estimate was for 3,1xx and they totaled it at 2,100....its 100% her fault. she pulled out from behind a parked car and trued to make it into the driveway accross the street to turn around...i smashed the braked and they locked up and boom. cop cited her with failure to yield. the cop was real cool about it and could tell i was really sad about the car. even though I say id like to sell it and get something different having everything you have worked for crunched in a min really sucks.

well here are some pics...i have no idea what her insurance is going to give me. but im sure there gonna try and low ball me. people who have been through this before i could use some help, i really dont know where to start. :( if i show proof of all the things i have bought for the car will that help?

pics...it really dont look bad but...its totaled.

That is easily fixable. Buy it back from the insurance and get it fixed by someone that knows what there doing. Dont let it go.

I don't know how much they will negotiate but if you mention back and neck pain it may get you some more money. Hell it probably wouldn't hurt to get on corral.net or another stang site and find as many similar car as possible for sale and see what they are asking.

It's just good that you are alive and un damaged. Cars can be replaced... people can't.

+1
Really, it looks like you would need the fender skirt/radiator support. You should be able to find a good front clip at almost any junk yard.

When you are handed lemons, make lemonade.

See what the insurance is willing to do. Buy it back from them and use the extra cash to fix it. I've seen some really nice cars, come out of situations like this.

I know it still sucks and you are broken hearted, but it may turn out well for you. ;)

All the gaps can be realigned. It needs to be put an a frame rack and measured and repaired. That is nothing, I have fixed way worse than that. Some jobs of over 25-30K in repairs. I know most people say " I dont want it back if its repaired". Truthfy most people cant tell the difference if the repaires are done correctly. I've been doing this for almost 20 years.

Hell I just bought a wrecked truck to fix for myself as a tow vehicle.

Talk to Mfield. When you put a car on a rack, they pull with the same power as when it got pushed. And at the exact oposite angle so the frame will twist back into shape and most of the body panels will re align.
Sorry to hear this happened and really glad you and everyone are OK.

Nothing hard about swapping your v8 stuff to a 4 cyl body, especialy since you have everything on the vert.

I would take that to a frame shop and have it fixed. I am sure MFIELD could hook you up. If not I know its a far drive from your neck of the woods but Bethel Frame and aligment do damn good work and they are cheap. I had my engine cradle and core support pulled back one day by them and it took them 2 hours or so to do everything plus an alignment for 75.00. I think the cheapest I found before that was 200-300 dollars. I would at least research it a little before you throw it in the can. My wifes Malibu a few years back in the ice storm had a tree fall on it while her and my son were driving. The car was totaled. I bought it back for 250.00. Now granite it there was no frame alignment isuues so it was just a matter of a new windsheild, hood, mirrors ,f enders, and a nose but I still have the car today and its fixed. Dont give up until you have exhausted all options.

it will be minus engine, trans, and a few other things but if you do want it. you have first dibs...its not worth it to fix it to me, ive found some rust in the floor pans when i had it on the lift.

im just gonna find a hatch and swap it over.

Ryan, it is REALLY easy to do a V8 swap. I bought Dedpedals coupe...it now has all the running gear and a tubular Kmember under it. It's worth it...

i dont got the time man :( im just going to suck this up and sell it and buy an explorer, then buy another stang soon enough. this sucks so much. but hey if anyone wants it they have first dibs..i dont know if i should just part it out or just not even deal with it and sell it as it sits.

That sucks man.

With the age of your car can they total it if you want to keep it? My 65 was smacked in the rear and it was $2500 to fix. Way more than blue book, but they had to pay every red cent to fix it. Of course my quote was using all NOS parts so I could muster up a few upgrades.:D If anything else, don't let them low ball you. They should have to pay for a replacement, within reason, regardless of blue book value.

Best of luck.

If it was the other persons fault do not sign anything with their insurance company until you get what you feel car is worth.
My friend had a beautiful 82 GT and when a women pulled out in front of him and totaled it they only wanted to give him $1800.He told them it would take $4500 to replace it and refused to take their settlement. He told them if you can find me another one as nice for your price do it.They ended up giving him his $4500 and he signed off on any further actions against the insured.

tmotorsports
04-12-2008, 03:38 PM
Also he let them keep $700 and he kept the car and ended up fixing it.
You probably could do that and buy another car and fix yours later. My wifes 93GT was 10 times worse than your car and its beautiful now.
