Ill be using crazier stuff in my cobra but the best setup that produced 1.49 best 60' consistant 1.50's flat time after time... with my coupe that was only putting 315hp to the tires was max. motorsports weight jacker adjustable rear lower control arms, stock uppers, solid bushings, anti roll bar, eibach rear springs, strange rear shocks. i had a stock k member up front with eibach front springs & competition engineering front struts...i was running a 4:30 gear/ spool/ 28" tall tire....
that car hooked, pulling the front tires a foot+ straight & level with that setup better than many other cars with more expensive everything....k member....etc...
max motorsports rear lowers are the best money you can spend......you can lower your car to that perfect tire tuck with a ratchet too...most upr style rear control arms leave your car looking like a monster truck in the back...
i think unless your running 10's or less a k member is a waste of money...my opinion

some people love upr & it works for them...i had it all brand new & sold it for my setup mentiond above...and used stock uppers...i shaved 2 tenths off my 60' in that car doing so

My car was mostly setup when I bought it. Front and rear coilovers Metco control arms strange double shocks Hal struts Anti Roll bar. Has gone 1.36 NA and low 1.3's on a 100shot. I think all the major suspension companys componets work good. A well set up car can make any name brand control arm or shock look good. There is a book out called "Door Slammers" Also look up Baseline suspension Keven has some good products and great information.

UPR Pro Series.
It doesn't get any easier. I laid the arms next to the stockers, made them the same length (no idea what the pinion angle was), bolted on some 26x10 ET Drags on a 600hp notch, dumped the clutch at 5k, and got a 1.39 short time.

Wolfe hands down. My old car would go low 1.4's on drag radials. I think Tino was going 1.3's on slicks in it this past year.
I have baseline Uppers and lowers and a Team z antirollbar. It is all nice stuff. It's been 1.43

Some of you guys say stock uppers....is that with the spherical bushings in it or what? Also are you guys using the spherical in the lowers or are the urithane's cutting it?
Sharad
03-28-2008, 11:33 PM
can't use stock uppers. (too soft)
Definitely spherical but they're a pretty rough ride on a street car. No biggie though.

Im using trz upper and lowers and they work great . but i would have to say alot of the big name companys will work great . There all about the same one guy loves them the next guy hates them . If i swithed my shit out to upr or wolfe i would prob notice no gains because they copy eachother and getting a car to hook is all about set up and not the name brands . I just look for ones that dont break . wolfe and upr and team z, base line and trz are all great . And the old south sides are hard to beat :bigthumb

im fortunate enough to know the guy who wrote that book and let me say that he's a very brilliant man and he's going to be helping me setup my suspension when i start buying it

What kind of time frame is your build going to be done? Also I had a copy of that book but it has disappeared.

i think unless your running 10's or less a k member is a waste of money...my opinion
I think there are more advantages to a k member than just the loss of weight. After working on a car with a tubular k member, you never want to go back working around the bulky stock k.
i plan on personally going with either a ladder bar or a 4-link.. after i get all the front suspension done i'll put more thought in what i want to do. i dont want to back half the car, but i want to hook hard.
Sharad
04-15-2008, 07:12 AM
don't need to back half a mustang to hook hard.
ive been looking into it and i have a few questions..
if i were to go with a ladderbar setup where would i tie the one end into the subframe
and the same thing witha 4 link?

Amen. The first thing I would do to any car was put a tube K on to make lots of room
talking about tubular k members...
i've noticed a few different kits on jegs and stuff..
granitelli and aje racing have a coilover kit on jegs.. has anyone run that kit or any feedback?

I would never buy anything Granitelli.
AJE is very good stuff. Also PA Racing and Team Z make nice setups.

In order to do a 4 link you will have to cut the back floor out so it would probably be best to go ahead and backhalf it at that point. You can buy a ladder bar kit from Applied Racing Technology (ART) or S&W and weld it right in. I would not really want to do a lot of street driving w/ a ladder bar setup but for drag racing it is a simple inexpensive and effective way to hook. If you aren't looking to backhalf with the ladder bar you could even keep the stock shocks. However you have to look at the # of guys who are using a stock type suspension and running some really good 60's. It would by far be the easiest and cheapest way to go. I would try going w/ a stock type setup and play with it till you can get it to work as well as possible and go to the ladder bar idea as a last resort.

Seriously man, don't bother. Mustangs have been in the 7s in the quarter mile for years on "stock suspension". I wouldn't ladder a car unless I was back halfin' it and shooting for sixes in the quarter.

I just bought the whole shooting match from pa-racing myself. Coilover, tubuler control arms and everything. The price if fair ,I thought. I have not put it on the car I have now yet,but I put one of their k-members on a trans am I had with no problems at all.So I went back for my mustang build. Look up the web site. pa racing.

I cant say enough for PA's products. Jason has allways taken good care of me and really helps out his customers and racers. I think my K-member was one of his first My whole front suspension is PA. Bottom line it works.
