i hada brokin bolt on the water pump, top most part of the block, i grinded it down and drilled it, and went to tap it and the ear broke off on the block, do you think it'll hurt it to run it like this? with just some silicon to seal it on that one bolt?:(

Is it the top bolt hole on the drivers side? If it is that's where mine broke and I just got it welded. But I haven't put my motor back together to see if it is going to work. I am going to use a stud in mine so I'm not threading a bolt in and put of it. Make sure you don't have a bunch of silicone in all of the holes. That's why mine broke is because it was like it was bottoming out and was putting a lot of pressure on it. Or did it break into a water jacket?

A stud might not be a bad idea. I might even mix up some JB weld and put the 2 pieces back together with the stud and put the cover on it to hold it in place. Its up high enough that it shouldn't leak, but do whatever you can to try and seal it up.

WOW! do it right..................get it welded and retapped....or get a diffrent block. You need a tight seal there.

That's exactly where mine broke. I wouldn't jb weld a stud in just incase the stud gets messed up. I would just take it and get it welded. It cost me $40 to get mine done. Just make sure they know how to weld cast iron. You have to heat the block up and use a nickel welding rod.

:bigthumb any reputable machine shop should be able to do it? or I have a nice .30 block for sale:D

If it's temporary, put it back together and see if it leaks, worst case scenario it costs you a few gaskets.
