1987 Gt with t-tops

Well this is actually going to be my husbands project, I'll be helping with what I can, mostly interior, being that I love Mustangs, but don't know a d*mn thing to work on them, lol! But we got the Stang about a month ago. Hard car to find with the t-tops. My husband has wanted to find an 87 forever now. Finally found it over the net. We drove over 220 miles to get the car. Pulled it back. Right now its all in primer, replaced the driver side door, driver side front fender, replaced the headliner ourselves. The rear needs to be looked at, has the 4.10 gears in it now. We got some front seat belts for it. Got some new interior panels for the back seat and hatch, bought some interior piece spray paint for them also. Hope to get them all in soon, the weather permitting.

Lol, yeah the seats and carpet are really clean. But the other day I cleaned all the panels, no offense to smokers, I've been one, but the previous owner must've smoked like a freight train. I'd spray cleaner on a panel, and you'd just see the nicotine running down, it was pretty disgusting!

Well Chad was out driving it, came home and said the gas line broke. After we had it replaced, pretty sh*tty. Had it replaced because the line had a hole in it..

Just posted pic of the new gauges, lol! Haven't had anything else really going on. Just had the guy pick it up today to get the fuel line fixed again, he's going to fix the quarter panel on the drivers side where someone tried to break into the car and bent it all in. He's also putting on the tail pipes since we changed over the exhaust to flowmasters. My husband and boss put the new BBK headers on it also. As soon as we get the car back, hopefully by Saturday, I'll post some more pics. Hopefully put the new nose clip on it and primer the car...

Well we FINALLY after 2 weeks got the car back from the shop after getting the gas line replaced and the tail pipes put on. But we were out driving it and for some reason its been stalling, it happened to me once as I was turning left at an intersection and Chad a few times. So he's decided just to rebuild an engine for it. Since the stock engine is pretty worn down with 197,000+ miles on it. So here are some pics so far of Chad pulling out the engine, the rest will be finished tomorrow....

So I guess Chad gave up on the idea of just redoing the engine. Going to go look at a motor today, supposed to have 71K miles on it, hopefully everything goes ok and bring it home and put it in the car!!

Thanks! I think the last year for t-tops was in '88, only 300 made. The floorboards need to be replaced, their not horrible, but who ever tried to replace them last time, didn't weld them in or anything! :confused:

Um, well my husband has been having hell of a time with the spring. He says it all true, lol! PITA! He's going to drop the lower a arm from the k member and try it that way. If that doesn't work would you like to buy some Tokico Springs??? ;)

thanks i cant wait to get it on the road. my wife has been doing all the updating (good job Na Na) as i try to squeeze in any work i can on it after i get off work or on days off, I took a 5 day mini vacation this week to put the motor back in and blew today messing with the damn pass side spring wich bye the way is still not in got till friday to figure it out or no motor in this weekend.

The engine bay has been cleaned, I literally climbed in the thing to get all the gunk and grease off of it!....

So Chad went through and removed the ac, smog pump emissions, bought a bigger fan also.

Chad got the new motor in tonight and boy did it sound just amazing! At first he tried to crank it over all it did was sputter by the cylanoid but realized that he didn't ground it onto the frame. Lol! Of course Chad still has to go through and get all the vacuums hook up the cold air intake...I got a video of the engine but I got to figure how to transfer it from my phone to the computer.

So well if you guys haven't noticed I've been trying to find a decent paint and body shop. So it's getting closer to being done. Chad tried starting it yesterday but it would fire up then die, so he thinks the freaking fuel pump went out, so there's another mechanical thing that's going to have to be fixed. It still needs a transmission line, alignment, and a few odds and ends to be fixed. Then HOPEFULLY get the body AT LEAST done on it! It's almost a year now since we've had the car and haven't been able to enjoy it yet. But I tell you what, when its done, it's gonna be mean!!! :lol: ;)

Orange is a good color for a Foxbody! This is ours.

So the Stang has been in the shop since Feb. 6 the mechanic has been doing a good job with it. Finally got it to someone we trust. He found out that it wasn't the fuel pump but a sensor was out. He hit the key and it fired right up. He's been working on the body also, got the front nose clip off to replace it with the new one. I'm going to have Chad go to the shop and get some pics of it so I can post them up of the progress. I think their rethinking the color also, maybe going with a type of green...

this is just my 2 cents, find some windshield trim that black also, Throw some black tape in the moldings and your set! Other than that the car looks awesome. I like them wheels.
