I have been putting off getting fuel for a few days now. With diesel at the price that it is now, it is going to cost me probably right around $120 to fill up my truck. Is anybody else's butt sore?

$2.98 last night at Krogers in Forest Park.......plus extra .15 off with Kroger card.

Oil hit $109.20 a barrel, thats $2 a gallon for crude!

More then that!!! I'm pretty sure that when they talk about barrel oil prices it's for 42 gallon barrels not 55

id say my butt is pretty sore, but I better get used to it its not going to get any better

what can you do besides not drive as much. IT makes you think twice about doing anything after work or on weekends enless its in walking distance. It cant be helping the econ. with no one going anywhere and having no money. IDK it sucks

Businesses that deal in the luxuries we have some to enjoy like say Starbucks are going to be the ones feel the effects first. What will we do if there isn't a Starbucks on every corner?

I'm so lucky right now. For the last two years I've had a company truck. The perck with that is you get a gas card also. I cant complain about anything. I only have to pay for a tank of gas about every 3, 4, maybe 5 weeks for the stang. I only put about 5k on the stang last year. I dont know what that truck and gas cards worth but i know it saves me a LOT of money.

E85 for me! E85 Equals out to the same value as Gasoline.

E85 is about 15% Cheaper but gives 15% LESS fuel economy.

It's also driving up corn/food costs, pollutes more and does do much to tide the flow of oil from the Middle East.

Actually takes MORE fossil fuel to refine/transport E85 than Gasoline. I can't be transported via pipelines and must be trucked/railed everywhere it goes. :rolleyes:

Saw a thing the other night that said the production of E85 is a net loss. In other words it takes more energy to produce it than it makes. Wouldn't expect it to last forever. Fad. Big loser. No wonder GM backed it.

It's all about the 105 octane E85 has for me...that's what i'm gonna run in my coupe. If they could grow and use sugar beats/sugar cane as a fuel stock instead of corn..it would greatly reduce the strain on the soil and energy needed to produce it. Corn is actually a very inefficient fuel stock..but it's what the US has readily available. The higher cost of diesel vs gas is what I really don't understand.

At a $0.20 difference in prices, It doesn't pay for me to use E85 in my Tahoe. In the long run the 87 octane gas cost me less per month because of the loss of milage with the E85.

Except for the obvious Octane advantage, E85 is a real loser for the consumer. It's all about Politics and $$$$. The farmer is the BIG winner in all this!

Diesel is in extreme demand worldwide + the fact that it was reformulated last year into ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel) makes it more expensive than gasoline right now.

What were seeing now is the gap between Gas/Diesel prices due to the upcoming driving season.

Keep in mind, that most ALL the experts are saying this spike in Oil/Fuel prices is a big bubble that WILL burst down the road. Exactly like how the current Mortgage market imploded (but for obviously different reasons).

The question now is WHEN the bubble will burst and how low prices will drop. As we all know, Oil is an extremely volatile commodity.

I've been debating (driving myself crazy) with myself deciding whether or not NOW is the time to buy that high MPG sub-compact for a commuter car. :rolleyes:
