Can i use an 8.8 out of mid to late 90's mustang? Is the width going to be an issue? I am trying to find an inexpensive 8.8 for my 91 fox. I searched and could not find the answer, so i figued i would ask the powers that be.

I have a 95 8.8 in mine with 95 Cobra wheels. On a hard bump it will buzz a tire. Not really that bad.

Thanks for the information.
I was thinking what are the weak points of the 7.5? I had planned to upgrade axles, and go with an auburn unit. I know they make on for the 7.5. What is wrong with going this way? Then i dont need to find an 8.8 that fits correctly. Thanks again for your time.

The 8.8 and 7.5 use the same axles. Its when your running slicks or sticky tires that the 7.5 becomes a problem. if your going to go to a 31 spline which will require new axles and the cost of a new traction loc for the 7.5 it would be better in the long run to upgrade now to a 8.8 and be done. Otherwise you'll be back at it later and spend more in the future.
