That reminds me of growing up with all my dad's buddies. We always had flat-bottom v-drives on the river up by Ripley. We have no migrated south to lake cumberland. I'll have to post up some pics of my 81 Sanger Hydro drag boat project..... 140mph on water will be sweet!!!!

There used to be a guy in Ripley Ohio back in the early 80's when we camped, He had a 20' jet boat berkley jet drive 460 dual quads, headers upside down had it clocked on the river in Cinti doing 89 mph That was pretty quick for a jet boat on the river then. He claimed it was the fastest boat on the river.

Rule of thumb..... you should never EVER claim to be the fastest...... there is always somebody faster... . My dads buddy John had a 20ft V-drive with a blown 426 Hemi that would run 110-120 easily...... well until it broke everyday and they spent all night fixing it. There were at least 4 or 5 100+ mph boats out of that area. Right around White Oak marina. I remember a yellow v-drive named Bank Shot that could run 100. And a 21 foot checkmatewith twin 225 outboards that was a wicked machine, it could do 100 if you could control it. Granted, i was only 8 or 9 years old at this time, but i still remember it. It sparked my passion for speed on water!!!!

I know what you mean, There was a guy named Skip run up and down the river with a purple and grey sparkle Checkmate with twin 150 mercs, That boat was real quick. I rode in it a few times jumping barge wake.
