View Full Version : Update on my coupe

I had a thread on my coupe rebuild project..but it seems to have gotten deleted somehow. So anyway..here are a few update pictures.

Engine bay is all finished with everything hooked up. I still have to ziptie a few things in place and wire loop some stuff.

Procomp mechanical water and tranny temp gauges, digital nitrous pressure gauge, CD player, Hurst quartstick shifter installed.

New carpet, electronics board.

Fuel cell, nitrous bottle mounts/line/filter/cutoff valve, battery cutoff switch.

Got the hood on...even if it is dirty.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2151/2305406843_43b151edf9.jpg

I still need to have Glassman (Jason) come out an replace the windshield and pull my rear glass so Dedpedal (Kevin) can retint it. That will also let me finish up the rear firewall/package shelf so that I can get it covered with carpet. I hope to have it on the dyno at CS getting tuned before the end of the month. I'm gonna use a SCT flip chip with a 93 pump gas and E85 tune. Once the bugs get worked out...then the bottle will bet opened up. I'm really wanting to try running nitrous with E85.

Probably the first available T&T after it hits the dyno. Which reminds me, I need to get my antiroll bar links welded up before that.

The wrist bands work pretty good at keeping oil from dripping out of the breathers. I'll let ya know when it gets scheduled to go on the dyno at CS.

What kind of low mount alternator. kit did you use

That would be a Keyrock/Dedpedal engineering product...aka. home fabricated. I think the bottom piece is from a early 80's datsun 4 banger..rest was from scrap metal pieces using some help from a sawzaw and hammer:lol:.

I made it...just got some 1" wide x ~1/8" thick aluminum stock for the bracket that bolts the fan to the radiator, just used a piece of sheet aluminum for the fan gaurd. Jigsaw, hammer, vice, edge of a workbench is all it took.

Jeff, check your PM's.

Jeff and everyone else complaining about lost threads, they were deleted by accident when the site was down at the beginning of February, so I'd appreciate it if the "conspiracy" crap would stop.....we're working to try to get them restored by the weekend. (IF we are able to restore them, I'll merge this thread into Jeff's original thread and clean it up the rest of the way).

If there are any other complaints or problems with the site, step up and contact one of the admin instead of crying about it in someone else's thread.

Sorry for the hijack Jeff, I'll remove all of this when we're able to restore the threads (hopefully). :D

Maximus

You are correct.
Jeff I am sorry for hijacking your thread. I was trying to make light of a situation where I knew certain threads were missing and I found it weird how they were about the Coupe's. SOOOOooo in my attempt to be funny, I thought I would try and be like the JFK "Conspiracy" people. No harm was meant or intended.:)

Yes I will..but no rush. I am lucky enough to have two of the best SCT tuners in the country come into town to tune my heap. Going to do a pump gas and a E85 tune. I may even get to spray it on the dyno since I just got the E85 jet map for my efi plate from NX this week:D. Hope to have it at the track in early May.

Well...little update. Car left the garage yesterday for a trip to the dyno. Couple electrical gremlins showed up that kept us from actually being able to tune it. A short/grounding issue showed up that somehow was cutting the power to the computer. So once I get that tracked down and adjust the rear suspension (car is sitting to low) I'll get it back on the dyno to get tuned. I need to take some more pictures of the car now that's it's 99% back together.

Don and Rob Lasota are tuning my car for me. The live in columbus and are partnered with performance shop in columbus that has a dyno. I have been friends with them since I first got into mustangs back in the late 90's. They also happen to be very good SCT tuners....they have been SCT dealer trainers for the several years also.

Good luck with everything... Those gremlins strike at the

I hope they stay away also. I'm pretty sure I have my ground issue fixed. I ran a dedicated ground wire from the battery up to the front where I connected the eec harness ground,wp, and fan ground directly to it. Car started up and ran just fine for ~10 minutes in the garage the other night.

Yes...those are my same 4 lug Centerline Warriors that I've had forever. I have way to much invested in my 4 lug setup to switch to 5 lug. I'll see you down at corral day. I've already pre-paid my admission for it (you save a few bucks vs. paying at the gate). Are you camping or hoteling it?

Just got back from having my car dyno tuned by Rob and Don Lasota in Columbus. I did a n/a pump gas, n/a e85, and E85+100 shot tune.

Here are the graphs for the E85 n/a and 100 shot pulls. I don't have the pump gas dyno graph for some reason...but the car picked up ~10rwhp just by switching to E85 (no added timing over the pump gas tune). I'm very happy with the results considering the cam/converter are setup for nitrous. The cam is spec'ed for a 150-200 shot...so I expect it to put well over 500 rwhp on a 150 shot. 6 years ago with a n/a cam and 5speed tremec in the car it made 420/400 n/a.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2292/2503559658_a1e9e65639_o.jpg

Got several things to do before it's track ready..but I'm gonna try to bust my butt this week to get them done...then it just might see edgewater friday night since there is no T&T saterday at Tri-state next weekend.

Yes...the power peak moved about 400 rpm up to ~6800 now. I'll start with that for a shift point. Seems my change to a Box upper and 90mm t/b and lmas helped. Ya...I was expecting to see the usuall nitrous torque increase also. I know automatic's with loose stall converters can do wierd things to dyno numbers. I'm not worried about the dyno #'s it make..just wanted to get a safe tune on it. It's the ET numbers that I will care about. You know all about going fast with little dyno numbers.
