i picked up a 99 with a broke rod,can i use any 96 up shortblock and just reuse my heads and intake??? any info would be great

Just read in 5.0 mag, that the later 99-04 PI heads and intake on a 96-98 shortblock will have more static compression because of the combustion chamber/piston configuration. More power I guess?????? :bigthumb

I don't think the guy ever changed the oil. No wonder it locked up.

putting PI (99+) heads/cams/intake on a non pi (98-) shortblock will yield the best set up on a budget. it raises compression and increases flow. you should see about 250+ with a good intake and exhaust
