On the 2009 model years cars and trucks, GM will introduce a speed limiter (max. 5 MPH) into the Onstar system. When you report the car/truck as stolen, Onstar will limit the speed of the stolen car/truck to 5 MPH.

I don't like Big Brother controlling my truck. :confused:

Also, DARPA has been holding contests for autonomous vehicles. The last test was in an urban setting. The one before that was in the desert. DARPA is pushing for our military to have 1/3 of it's vehicles fully autonomous by 2015.

I can see where it would be useful in the event that it was stolen, but it is freaky that they have that control over our vehicles.
