BIZLE

PaulFiveOh

Oh no shit dude, I had my hands in to a LS-T non vtec build. Made in excess of 400hp!

Tell me about your build

BIZLE
02-27-2008, 11:52 PM
stock motor 14.5 psi made 296hp 264tq on cincys dyno

PaulFiveOh
02-28-2008, 08:19 AM
I like how all your worried about is trap speed lol.
Unfortunently with out DR's, thats all fwd can strive to achieve there haha.

The build I worked on used a GT42R turbo in to a completely forged ls bottom with a worked non vtec head. It was pretty sweet.

BIZLE
02-28-2008, 12:19 PM
well im still thinking it will go low 13s or high 12s on street tires

I had a good time today running on slicks for the first time. But my ET's are worse this year on slicks than they were last year on DR's. The only thing that improved were my 60's. I ran a 12.94 and a 12.96 @ 103MPH with 1.66 and 1.70 60's. Last year on DR's I ran 12.80's at 106MPH and 1.85 60's. I just dont get it. I was expecting to pick up a lot more than I did, not go backwards. I did however pick the front end up 3 times today. That was fun for 1st timers.

Did you change anything else with the car..the tune/timing? Being down 3mph is about a 30hp loss. If you had run 106 today..you probably would have been in the 12.6's.

Today was pretty fun for this early in the season. Except for the rain, but we waited it out and got a few more runs in. Getting closer to the 10's. Maybe work on that front suspension some and get some weight transfer. Craig I need to call you for some new tires.

The only changes I have made are I went to a 70MM TB from a 75MM last year and I dumped the exhaust and added an X pipe and slicks. I do know on the big end with the slicks I have a crap load of vibration like you would get running on 2 flat tires. I have never ran good at Edgewater even on UMTR nights. Lst year my best time at Edgewater on DR's was a 13.20. But I could go to Tristate or kil kare and run 12.80's and 12.90's.

Did you run the same size slick as the DR's were? It could be that they changed your gear ratio by being a larger radius or created more drag by being wider.....

I'm running a 26 X 8.50 MT ET Drag on a Welds. Last year I ran Nitto's 245/45/17 @ 14 PSI on a 99 GT 5 spoke wheel. I know the car was awful squirelly on the big end toady but I had a hell of a lot of vibration on the big end too. Like the whole car was shaking. I know it was going to wobble back and forth but the car shaking itself I wasn't expecting. It felt like running 100 MPH on flat tires on the street or like it feels when your street tires are out of balance.

firestang70

Those are both 26" tires. Maybe up the pressure in the slicks a little at a time till the car responds they way you want.

How much air was you running in them? If you are only heating up one tire that tire is going to hook and the other one is going to spin. You might need to run a few more pounds in the driver tire and it will make it spin easier so they will both heat up. Or you might do a burn out for a few seconds then pull up and do another one and see if they both spin.

92BlackStang
03-03-2008, 03:37 AM
the right tire should have less air then the left tire, left tire spins more. what gear you doin burnout in??

black90lx
03-03-2008, 04:17 AM
He would have to do a burn out in 1st gear with a 3:27 unless he has a really strong clutch. I could smell my clutch doing a burn out with a 4:10 and a spec stage 2 clutch. But it pulled a better 60FT that way. It will just take some practice to learn how to do it.

Um no!...you should run equal tire pressures in both rear tires. Unequal rear tire pressures can push the car left/right going down the track.

We are not talking about a 5lb difference! We are talkng about about a 1 or 2lb difference maybe 3 if his clutches in his carrier are completely shot. That's what I did when I had that problem and it helped it. I was pulling 1.6 60fts on BFG DR's with stock suspension and yanking the fronts wheels about 2-3 inches! My front left wheel even lifted a little when I hit second. I was also leaving around 4500

Sorry to hijack, but you have a car that runs low 12's and it will lift the front tire off of the ground in second??????? And the rear end was shot?????? Low 12's??????? But anyway even a couple of pound difference in the rears can make a car move one way or the other off of the line. As far as top end shake have you checked your u joints?

Hey Paul if that method doesn't work for ya I would check your clutches in your rear end. That sounds like they got some slop in them. I'm sure you know this already but in case you dont you can pack 4 clutches in on each side and make it super tight. From the factory they use 2 plates in between each clutch. If you only use one plate in between each you can squeeze 4 in on each side.

What he said. Worked good for me.

That's what I said! It would only bob the front wheel when I hit second. Steveslx was doing the same thing and his was running low 13's. It was doing that when I had my motor in the lx, I have it in a lowered gt now.

Bumpers are for guys that dont make enough powwaaaa to do a power wheelie and rip them off!!!!!:lol:

You better keep a rope and learn how to lasso...cause that's the only way you'll be able to catch me!!

I guess in all my years of drag racing I just have never seen a 12 or 13 second car pull the front wheel in second. I have seen front end travel that made people THINK that the front wheel came up. I guess that you have something that I have never seen before. Well like they say you learn something new everyday.............

Did I ever say that I did not believe you???? I am not here to impress anyone as well. Hell, I don't really even know anyone on here. I am just a Ford guy like everyone else on here (maybe except the guy with the Camaro lol). Did I not say that you learn something new everyday? Just because I have not seen it does not mean it did not happen. I was hoping someone else had seen it and would speak up, I guess not. It is nice to think that a 12 - 13 second car could pull the front in second, I just have never seen it or heard of it happening. Whatever, let's just move on.........

That's cool, I'm not getting mad. Hope to see you the track one day I'll swing by and say what's up. Its all in the weight transfer... Lol good ol 4 cylinder springs and wore out front struts.. My car did sit a little high in the front for some reason, maybe that helped it.
