can someone tell me what the info on the tag atached to my rear end housing means

This is the gear ratio for your car. The ratio means that for every one rotation of the ring gear ( the larger gear in the housing) the pinion gear (smaller input gear) i read this on yahoo awnsers on a dodge truck i dono if it would give you ur awnser i was wonderin the same thing with the tag thing.

Looks like its a 9" with a 250 gear.
2.50 is kinda wierd though.Thats a wierd gear ratio.

thanx guys thats was sort of my guess 2.50 gear but had nvr run across such so i went to the knowledge base of the bangerz

There must be more information on that tag as it doesnt seem like the normal numbers. Ford usually stamps the hole for the bolt right thru part of it for some reason but it should start off with 3L08 or even 2L73 or something similiar. You do have an 8.8 correct?

The 9 after the ratio, indicates 9in.

The ratios with the L, in the middle, are lockers. The rest are open.
