Will I get the same amount of money back wherever I go (HR Block, Jackson Hewitt, Joe Schmo, etc.)? This is my first time doing this.

Thanks

If its a simple return (you worked, dont have a lot of deductions) just do it yourself. Its really not that difficult. If you have more going on - Turbo Tax rocks!

I hate paying someone to do what I can easily do...it can be a bit scary to do it at first, but once you get going you'll find its not that bad.

If your return is done correctly, anyone that does it for you shoud get the same results. Its all about asking you (yourself) the right questions to gather the right information.

Do it yourself. I goto taxact.com It was $17 and that was electronically filing both federal and tax. Got my money back in my account in 10 days. It walks you through the entire process. I would never pay someone to do it unless you have self employment issues that are complicated.

I do it online. If you AGI is less than 50 something thousand, it's free.

Go to the E-file page on the IRS site, then click on E-file partners. Click on any of them and go to town. I use Liberty Tax (Esmarttax) and have for the last 4 years. Make sure you link from the IRS site, or it won't be free.

first time doing it as being a 1099 IC, likely will pay someone to walk me thru it.

Wait, I can deduct that fee too :)

I used to do mine but with having my own consulting business I didn't want to chance missing something that I could write off/deduct. I went to Jackson Hewitt last year. Probably going there this year too.

My CPA is is Greenhills. She has done my taxes for the last 4 years. She charges $90 to do the taxes for you, and another $25 if you want them e-filed. She has them done and ready send off in 2 days. PM me if you want her info.

I pay for mine, arround 225. I have basic deductions like kids & house but i also deal with college tuition, home business which i write off mileage, portion of my house, phone bills, utility bills, cell phone. this year i also rolled over 401k. best part is i can call him anytime through year to ask what if questions, like when i rolled over my 401k he had a contact and what to do. I just think that maybe if someone else does your taxes, are you are less likely to be audited. 225 may seem steep to many, but piece of mind and probably knowing he saved me $225 and probably unknown hours is worth it to me. he is in ft.thomas if anyone needs his number pm me
