6pt bar needed if you go faster than 11.50...good till you go 9.99
8pt cage is good to 8.50 if you get it certified by a NHRA inspector.
There is a bunch of other stuff you will need depending on exactly how fast you go.

Also if you are in a vert the rules are a bit different too. Go to NHRA.com and check out the rules.

Pretty sure 6 and 8 are the same.9.99 and faster requires a 10pt.

thanks guys dont plan on making vert go faster then a 12.01 but the hatchbacks gonna need a bar
A legal 6-point consists of 8-actual points of attachment. That setup is good for 10.00's

I have a 8.50 cert sticker on the 8pt cage in my coupe.
A "cage" has A-pilar bars extending in front of you. Some people call it 8 point some call it a 10 pt or twelve, depending on the design.
A "roll bar" has two door bars, hoop, two rear bars, and two kicker bars from the hoop to the tunnel. Which makes 8 points of attachment and is good down to 10.00's :bigthumb
