How well should I clean my pistons?

How much time should I spend on doing this? Basically up to this point, I just turned the engine upside down, moved the piston as close to TDC as I could, and used carb cleaner and a small wire brush I had laying around, to scrub the pistons. I would also move the piston back down in the cyliner and wipe the cyliners out while spraying them with carb cleaner.

Should I spend some more time on them? I'm really debating on throwing some forged pistons in there right now while I'm here. How difficult would it be?

You would have to rebalance the Rotating assembly. Just keep the boost/spray low like under 15psi or 150 shot and you will be fine. .

Yea, thats not worth it then. I'll just keep it all motor and do a 408 way down the road.

You can buy a forged piston set from like summit or jegs or something rather cheap.550for a set of forged pistons and pretty much a whole rebuild kit.

Found out though, that I would need to balance everything again, and its just not worth that.

Ians old coupe ran 11.00 at 124 with stock 93 hyper pistons 302 with a D2. and a Tremec. The stock 302 block is the weak point of the whole mess anyway. I would run them till it puked. Keep the RPMS and Detonation in control and it will live.

Pistons will be fine, make sure you put a tad of oil in the cylinders, not good to be totally dry.
