I'm not sure what they came in, if anything, but I've been looking for one for some time now. Typically I see them go for about $1,000 with the bellhousing, but 89notch had one on here a couple months ago for $800 that I wish I would have picked up. They are definitely stronger than a t-5 and I believe can eventually be rebuilt to tko500/tko600 internals.

I think it may have come in the 95' Cobra R, but I don't think it came in anything else(don't quote me on that). Good luck finding a wrecked 95' R, lol.

They are rated @ 350 ft lbs, but my old 3550 was taking 500ft lbs just fine.

That's the only Mustang/car i've ever heard of them coming in. I've had mine now for about 3 years and it's taken lots of power shifts without getting pissy.

You are right the 95 cobra R was the only model mustang with the 3550. From good to better are 3550, TKO, Tko500, Tko 600. They are the same case they all look the same. I just worked on a newer tko600 and its tag read 3550 still.

What all is required to upgrade a 3550 to a TKO 600? About how much is it?

I know the input shaft in a 3550 is 10 spline versus 26 spline in a tko. I doubt you can upgrade one to the other.

You probably can upgrade one to the other but it would be best to sell the 3550 and then buy the stronger one if that is what you want. I talked to Hanlon the other day about putting a road race 5th gear ratio in a tremec 3550 series he told me not to bother Price would be too much. Really just about any parts for these boxs are not cheap. My next personal one will be either a G-force 5r, Liberty, Nash. I would want somthing that is near bullet proof and If you hurt a gear you can replace the gearset (Just the one gear and countershaft gear) If you have a 300-400hp 10- 11 second car you can get by with a g-force T-5 or just about any of the Tremecs but you still may break them. beyond that I would look for a rear race transmission.
