Till I read about it, I didnt realize how bad it could be.:(

The other night I sat straight up in bed and could not breathe. It was like my mouth was glued shut. Finally something kicked in and I could breathe again. Scared the Fuck out of me. Scared the wife also.
No cure...

My wife has the same thing. She was going to look into the cost of it tomorrow. Fortunately for her they have a sleep center at her work so hopefully insurnace will cover most all of it. It pretty much sucks laying next to her and hearing stop breathing for that long. I know it scares the crap out of me too.

I have an appointment with an ear, nose and throat specialist next week to get myself checked out. Teresa says I have it and I wake myself up several times a night because I stop breathing. My tonsils are probably the biggest part of it, so I'm hoping he'll laser those things out soon and I'll be good to go.

I have a sleep disorder and have to use a CPAP machine when I sleep. It's hard to get use to it at first but once you do and get a FULL nights sleep it's well worth it

My mamma has sleep apnia. I believe she also went to that same sleep clinic. She stopped breathing for some 450 times throughout the night they monitored her there. No wonder she never felt refreshed after a night of sleep. Like that article said, its primarily found in overweight people, but thin people can have it as well. My mom isn't overweight, but she has it.
Hope you get it all figured out!

bad news if they want to remove your tonsils. There is no laser option. At least there was in 2005 when my wife had hers taken out. There was just the old painful way of doing it. On the bright side they liquid oxycontin so recovery wasn't unbearable.

My brother has it. He's on a breathing machine at night that sounds like a vaccum cleaner running. His was so bad he would fall alseep talking to you. Ever since he's got the machine he sleeps fine. His was caused by his weight though.

I tried one of those machines once...I kinda felt like Darth Vader....Those machines suck. What is worse they put you in a room to monitor your sleeping behavior..The room is small as hell and they have you wired from head to toe..If you have to roll over you will start pulling out wires. They tell you to get comfortable like you are at home.. Well you have to wear a tshirt and some kind of pajama pants to bed...The only thing I sleep in is my boxers...I have never been able to sleep with pants on...

Yeah, the guy I went to said he won't use laser since it's kind of dangerous. He said he uses some sort of electrical thing now though, and it works just as well as laser and without as much danger. I guess it kind of burns the tonsils out, and cauterizes the veins and vessels at the same time. It looks like I go in sometime in Feb. I can't wait.

I have it....I've put off the CPAP and am trying to loose weight instead.
I'm down from 260ish back in March to 236 as of tonight. :D
Emily is pushing for the CPAP......I snore so bad I could suck in the ceiling when I'm drinking. :(

I'm just the opposite. According to Katie, the only time I DON'T snore is when I've been drinking. If I'm sober, it's a contest between me and the dog to see who can snore louder, man or beast. :)

He's only 15 weeks....I'm sure he'll get louder as he gets older. ;)
