from a reputable source new years eve....winely declined another recent $4mil check from steve engel. engel has figured, he would play with e20 while the whole legal process works out for his own track. watson gravel has offered the same all along but want payment plan. latest is that winely just accepted watson gravel deal & is going to lease to carlos lawrence from w&m trailers for 4-5 years....& start digging on other areas of the property:eek:

Time will tell what the truth is;)

Carlos was trying to buy it in 1990, not long after his son Mike crashed, crotch strap literally ripped him a new asshole.

Something about safety not being up to par........

Well March isn't too far away so we'll see then.

We need two track in the area or T&T days/nights will wind up going to hell.

If I was engel I was planning on spending that money I would just say screw the legal crap and find a different area to build a track in.I would come up into brown county or clermont county like easy access of 32 somewhere.Seems like there would have to be a place in that area and no other drag strips on that side of the area.

I agree. I heard a rumor last year or so that there was someone building a new track out off of 32 somewhere. Did anybody else hear that?

I agree and so have a lot of others. The owners of the new dirt track outside of Mt. Orab have said if the the round track is a success. They may build a drag strip someday. The Eastside would be good for some.

Yeah there are so many awesome places out in Brown Co. that a drag strip would fit real nice and not get on anyone's nerves. So many huge open fields waiting for blacktop :D

Just my opinion/assumptions:

Brown County is too far away from the population base of Cincinnati. People from Hamilton/Middletown or SE Indiana will not travel that far.

Clermont has too much growth. Any usable land there is probably too expensive.

The terrain is not as flat. Clermont and Brown Counties are both pretty hilly. I'll bet that any property out there that is usable for a race track would be pretty desirable.

Steve Engle's a pretty smart guy...if he felt that was a good location, he would be looking there.

Maybe Engel should get ahold of Jerry Carrol about building on the property around KY Speedway. When they originally built the track they talked about a big time dragstrip, dirt track and an indoor horse facility. I know it would probably never happen but it would be interesting to see how that conversation would go.

That's even farther away than Brown County. I don't drag race fellas, I'm building my car more for a road course so none of this really affects me since I'd probably only go to the track a couple of times a year. But I'll say this in response to Gene's comment. I agree it would be too far away but if Edgewater goes and Tri-State becomes a nightmare then I would think people would drive out there just because it's the only choice left. :dunno:

KY Speedway would be a heck of alot closer for me than Tristate or Brown Co. Unless you put a track in downtown it is going to be a little further for someone else to go. I'm sure you wouln't complain if they put a roadcourse down there. That was discussed at one time as well.

i always thought a good spot would be in between lebanon and ceasers creek.plus it close to that new casino they are trying to put in.if i had an extra 10 million i would put a drag strip and a road course and probobly a strip club all on the same lot.

Steve Engel is a die hard West Sider. We raced the same roads, no I mean tracks growing up. He always had fast cars.
I think he'll try to find something on the west side.

Well yeah it's closer for you. I was thinking more of the majority around here. But that would work out for you.

Thanks for the link Gene I had forgotten about the roadcourse. It would be pretty damn tempting to throw a little more road course friendly suspension under the coupe and buy an associate membership. Sounds like you would get quite a bit of track time for the $1200/yr membership.
