What will the Next gen Mustang bring?

Just like it says; what do you think the next generation of Mustang will bring?
The EPA will have tougher standards in the near future.
Will the automotive industry be able to keep making V8’s with the tougher standards?

Just a guess: AWD 4 & 6 cylinder Super Charged and Turbo charged cars.

If its not a rwd v8, it will lose alot of its appeal.

I think it would be weird if it was AWD. I know i wouldnt like it. alot of the fun of a Mustang is getting sideways! AWD you cant really do that.

But on a positive note they would be alot better in the winter

The new standards are CAFE, not EPA. There's a big difference, especially in how fuel mileage is calculated. Even though the average car in the United States gets 21mpg, according to CAFE that number is 27.5. Under the new rules, cars will have to get about 26.5mpg to reach the CAFE number of 35. Not to mention that E85 cars get calculated at a different rate, as do diesels and hybrids. The biggest place where the rules are going to cause issues is with light trucks and big SUVs. Don't be surprised to see small-displacement diesels replacing gas motors across the board in F-150s, Expeditions, etc. in the next decade.

I don't think it will result in big difference in the Mustang, with the exception that Ford will probably have to find a replacement for the Mod-Motor eventually. There's no excuse for the fact that a 6.0 liter LSx engine get such better gas mileage than than a Modular (not to mention makes a ton more power).

A turbo 6cyl. AWD Mustang would be interesting, though, especially if they could get the weight down to around 3000lbs.

I like the roush work on the hurricane. I believe it has another name now, but 8's NA is impressive for your first dam time out. I hope it does what I've seen the mags talking about and go into the f150's then be and option for mustangs like a big block.

The 2006 lincoln mkr has a 3.5 turbo six that had 415hp 400tq.It would be cool to see in a mustang regularly. It was hooked to a rear wheel drive so maybe it could be feasible.

I'm gonna say another "The Boss is Back" campaign with another 5.0, and i honestly think they'll bring back another pushrod engine. The Corvette's success with their pushrod engines clearly prove that pushrod power is far from dead.
