Need one for T-5 with 3:73's anyone? They're isn't one available to give an accurate reading. You have to change out the round gear on the shaft as well as the speedometer gear.

Don't feel bad, I need to do it with my car (3.73s) as well.

I don't remember what the # of teeth are.... I have an article on T5s at home. I'll have to look for it and post it back here.

23 tooth will get you close enough on a 90 up fox. I have those for 15 bucks. If you have an 89, I have some 21 tooth gears that will also get it close.

Here's a quote off the article....

For gear ratios 3.73 and higher, consider changing the transmission drive gear to a 6
(Black) or 7 tooth gear. You would then recalibrate with the proper speedometer gear.So it depends on what year T5 you have to determine which transmission gear is in it.

You can read the whole article here--->>

Transmission Drive Gear: Located in the tail shaft of the transmission. Sizes available are 6, 7, and 8.

Size 6 was original equipment in some 4 cyl T-5 Transmissions.

Speedometer Driven Gear: Located at the end of the speedometer cable where it plugs into the
transmission. Sizes available are 16 - 23.

Speedometer Driven Gear Teeth =
(Drive gear teeth x rear axle ratio x tire revolutions per minute) / 1000

This will get you very close maybe + or - 2mph Plus this will give you a reason to check out the new Dayton Performance shop. :bigthumb

The part number for the 6th tooth gear is e3zz17285b, you can get it at a Ford dealer or order it here (http://newfordparts.com/catalog.htm) for $8.98. Why settle for close enough when you can get it where it's supposed to be. A 6 tooth with an 18 speedo gear, which is what you have if the car came with 2.73's, is what you need to be accurate.

Maybe it is just me, but I am lost on the list. Which gear would I need to correct my 94 GT with a tremec and 4:10 gears? The way I read the list it would be the white gear???????

I'd say a 7 and 23 (white).

Wow, sorry guys I have been out of town for the new year. Hey Mike it for a friends car and its an 86. I also have a block I would like your opinion on, so I need to come see the new shop and bring it by so you can look at it if you have time. I will also get that gear if the tranny is the right one. Thanks Mike
