Went to pull the rearend out last night with the k-member, and couldn't get the damn 14" wheels off. There's a lug not lock on the drivers side. Well, needless to say, I dont have the key to it. Anyone have some advice on how to take it off, short of welding a standard lug nut to it? Its making taking the rearend out a pain in the ass. If I had a set of torches, I'd just cut the bitch out, maybe I'll break in the sawzall on the factory control arms and call it a day?

I bought a set of sockets from Sears that have teeth inside to grab locking lugs. It came with a pack of 3 to fit over different size lugs.

Or you beat an old shitty socket over the top of it

Yeah that's a great idea too. Find a junk 12 point and a big hammer. :bigthumb

I have had that happen to me before. I just hooked a set of vise grips on it and away I turned.

I bought a tapered socket at KOI a long time ago, which you simply hammer:dummy: onto the lug, then use a breaker bar on it to remove.:coo1:

Which is why my car is running and your car is due out in spring of 09.

You must still hunt and peck, the correct # sequence is 0 - 8... Nice try though!

I used a chisel and a hammer. 2 hits and the nut split in half.

When I get a new car, that's the FIRST thing I do- loose the wheel locks. That's what I pay insurance for. I sure don't want to f--k around with a lock on a dark road in the snow or rain.

Yes I did, and thanks for asking!:D Got that damn lug nut off too, just used some channel locks and my popeye forearms and spun that sucker right off. Sure didn't think it would work since there wasn't anything to really bite into, but sure as shit it worked! Thanks for all the suggestions fellas.:coo1:

Glad you got it off of there. I have that socket for removing locks for future reference.
