what type and size fuel cells are most of you guys running in your hatches?

also if you have a fuel cell in a hatch is it acceptable to build a sheet metal box around it instead of building a whole rear firewall?

we were thinking it would pass tech since its covered and still vented outside.

Well part of what cell you run depends on your use of the car. If you plan to drive it on the street at all I would go w/ at least a 8 gal tank. If it is purely a strip car you could go w/ a 3 gal tank. A plastic tank is alot cheaper than an aluminum one so if you are trying to go the cheapest route a small plastic tank w/out a sending unit is the cheapest. As far as the fire wall it would be alot easier to build a firewall than to build a whole box around the fuel cell but I have seen the box done quite a few times. Personally I run a 15 gallon Jaz aluminum fuel cell w/ the sending unit for a guage but my car is primarily a street car.

this will be a street/strip set up. We were thinking a nice Jaz 15 gal or so, sink it in the floor as much as possible and make a box around it. We have a bunch of metal laying around and we like fabricating. Thanks for the input Kenny!

I don't think so. we will be reconnecting the stock lines to the bulkheads using reducers.

I built a box for mine and its completly flush with the froor. The top panel is removeable so I can get it out if need be.

Bob here is how mine was done just to give you an idea. Hope this helps. BTW you can also see how the battery mount was made on the right side of the fuel cell area.

damn that looks killer Kenny. Are those panels all pop riveted or screwed? We got a Summit 15gal w/ 0-90ohm sender and a autometer gauge for it coming soon.

Those are all pop rivets. I thought I'd post up a couple pics just to give you some ideas on different ways to do it.
