Cincy Speed Tune....

Decided to take off work today and make the jog to
Cincy Speed and test the waters with the 90' lx coupe...
Minor bolt ons.... the usual stuff... cold air, throttle body,
injectors, longtubes, gears, blah, blah, blah....

Ended up making 292hp and 332 tq....
I can't believe the fuel and timing adjustments the car actually liked...

What a blast to drive back home!

I feel very fortunate after last years 331 kissin' the asphalt....
to take a junkyard 99' Mountaineer motor and put down the numbers
I have... heads have never been pulled... no porting on heads or
intake... stock 5 liter cam, stock valve springs, and rocker arms....

It started making 300 ft. lb. at 2,900.....

Thanks Bob... I would've liked to of seen 300hp but it just
wasn't in the cards today.... I'm still very pleased! ;)

Who woulda thought a $650 engine would produce these kind

What kind of Hp did you start out with?

mid to high 270....
I called it a day a little earlier than what I wanted because
I thought I had a leak... Ended up being a false alarm...
I've got a different adapter to try on the end of my mass air
meter and I'd like to see if it helps....

It's going to take quite a bit to improve my numbers....
I'd like to try and make my own cold air/power pipe that is
straighter...

Very nice numbers curt....I definatly see a 12.0 or maybe a 11.9x with some good air and a hooking track for you. Heck...my old ported p head motor only made 296/320 on the dyno. You definatly need to put a kit on it....150 shot = Low 11's.

I am doubtful on the 12.0 because my valve springs are taken
a dump around 5400.... Not really a big deal but at the end of
the track, I'm revving it way past that and the hp is droppin' like a
rock after 5400....

Kinda wish I had a set of 27" x 8" tires but they don't make them...

I should've put valve springs on this thing last year....

I'm sorta surprised the stock explorer v/s hold up till 5400. M/T makes a 28x9 slick that is really only about 27.5" tall. That's what I use to run with 4.30's with my old P head motor. Good luck at H2O friday night...hope you have good air and traction.

That's stout as hell for a basically stock motor...can you go into detail a little more on it? With a decent cam and better valve springs/more RPM you should have a damn healthy setup for dirt cheap.

Induction: Lightning mass air meter, Anderson power pipe, 75mm throttle body, stock mountaineer intake....

Exhaust: bbk 1 3/4" longtubes, Dr. Gas X-pipe, dynomax super turbo *grandpa* cat-back...

4.10's, Speedbrain eec, 24 lb. injectors, kirban fpr, pulleys, canton oil pan, and a lot of suspension components that I haven't figured out to make the car work....
tubular k and a-arms... Strange valving front and rear... megabyte sr. lowers, steeda uppers.... oh yeah, just about forgot the most expensive part... Bogart drag star wheels! :bigthumb

Thats awsome you put down those numbers. I need to get mine back down to Craig as soon as I get a new mass air meter. I only put down 275 and 309 on motor. We did do one 100 shot pull and it put down 339 and 408. Craig was taking mine up to 5500-5700. 275 was the best we could get out of it at 17 degrees initial. We never did play with the fuel pressure. We left it at 40psi. 12.76 is the best time I have been able to get out of this thing on motor,but thats in full street trim on Nitto 17" DR's so I can't complain to much. Those are awsome #'s for that motor. Good luck and keep at it.

on the internet... and I reallly believe in this computer
set-up I have....

Craig really made the day a blast... Such a laid back
environment there... made me feel right at home.....:bigthumb

We took mine to 6,000 just because I wanted to see what
was going on... I'm so excited to know that I don't have to
get too greasy over winter... a little suspension tweaking....
springs.... maybe rockers... look into a front brake kit to lose a little
weight..... and maybe, just maybe...12.00/11.99......:cool1:

Yeah thats for sure. It was just like being back at home. Craig had actually forgot I was coming the day I did and he had his hands full with his truck at the time and still took 3 hrs out of his time to help me out. I couldn't ask for better service than that.
