I am looking for a set of slicks and some wheels to put them on. I have a 89 LX that they will be going on. I need to know what backspacing I will need and what size to go with (ie 15x8 or 15x10). I have 5 lug spindles. Also I will only be changing out the rears not the fronts. I will still be running 245/45/17's on the front. I just need some slicks and 5 lug wheels to put them on.

26x8.5 will work well on a 15x8 rim, 26x10 works good on a 15x10 rim. I know some guys just use a pair of stock 15" V6 rims (think they are 15x7's)...a 26x8.5 works decent on those also.
15x 8 with 5.5 BS is good for a trouble free fit. 15x10 with 6.5 BS will work too, but requires a lot of hammer work and rolling the lips. If you aren't trying to stuff as much tire as possible just go with the 15x8s.

I definitely dont want to start rolling lips and stuff. I just want to use slicks next year and not DR's like I did this year. I am not concerned about looks either. This will be something I take on and off at the track seeing I drive my car to the track.
Sounds like a 26x8.5 slick on an 8 inch wheel should work good for you.
