I picked up a new toy on Friday...a Smith and Wesson M&P Compact in .40SW. Its not really what I intended to buy for my next gun but I got a pretty good deal on it so I couldn't resist. It has had 1 mag worth of ammo run through it though you can't tell and I picked it up for $399. I can't wait to take it to the range and try it out.

7 months ago i bought a brand new M&P compact 9mm at Shooters in Loveland for $375.00.
nice handgun. still a bit heavy being that it's a composite compact.
my Glock 36 (.45) is lighter.

The M&P 9 compact shot very nice I was shooitng a 226 9mm Sig as a comparision. I shot the Sig a little better groups then the M&P but for its size and price it is hard to beat. The XD was not around to shoot. I want to shoot an XD. I also shot a Rugar 1911 style .45 it was COOL. I like the .45s

That's a hell of a deal since all the new ones I see are $500+.

at the time, the compact 9mm had jaust came out. hell the extra mags were on backorder and i had to wait to get an extra mag with the finger extension. ended up getting that from shooters too! i have always gotten the best price at shooters in loveland. at the time, they were 95 bucks cheaper than Gary's in Fairfield. Gary is a heck of a guy, but 95 skins is 95 skins! S&W must have raised the list price, because i dont remember the list price being that high when i bought mine.

I have bought from Shooters as well and their prices always seem to be as good or better than anything I have seen other places. Old English Outfitters in Tipp City (where I got my M&P) has great prices as well. Its kind of like the prices of Shooters and the selection of Target World. I think the list price on the .40 is something like $625 and OEO sells them for $499 new. I noticed last night when I went and picked up a holster that they had another like mine for $399.
