TURN DOWNS

i was wondering....does having turn downs make your exhaust a little louder??...i have a 89 gt with a full mac exhaust and its not loud enough...if i put turn downs on it dumping it straight out of the muffler make it louder??...and would anything happen to the gas mileage???....daily driver also...thanks

also....how good are dumps when it comes to making it louder?? and would that even decrease my gas mileage??....looking for answers!!!!...thanks...

i wouldn't say it makes it louder. it has it's own distinct tone. I can hear every cylinder fire now that I have turn downs.

As for gas mileage I see no difference.

you can buy them at meijers for 2 or 3 dollars a piece thats where i got mine. did make it a little louder but not much but for six buxs clamp them on if you dont like it take em off hope this helps

it will make it louder being the noise is coming from under the car closer to your ears. Some people don't like it depending on the mufflers cause of the drone. And the fumes will go into the car at a stop light a lot more then w/ tail pipes. I ran dumps for a couple of years with no problems at all. You need dumps though to keep the heat off the rear axle

i had them on mine for awhile. it made mine louder and made the sound alot deeper

i had them on my 87 grand national and i hated them but i had the little short flowmasters 3" exhaust set everybodys alarms off and would kill your ears

I run a set of MAC pro dumps on my 92, Its sounds unbelievable, loud if thats what your looking for. In my opinion you do loose a bit of steetable usage though. When I get out of the car you do smell a bit like gas fumes, and if you yack on your cell and drive, you need to have your windows up in order to hear. Im going to cut mine out and run a full flowmaster system.
