tracking down old cars

does anyone know how to track down your previosly owned cars?.. I've asked this before and everyone says just do a carfax.. well I found the VIN to the car I want to find, and BLWN did a carfax for me (thanks again) and i got a title number and i found out it's still registered in Montgomery county to the same guy I sold it to before... but where do i go from here... someone said ask the police... but the police where I live aren't very friendly...lol.. can i call the title office and find this stuff out?

If you know the guy's name, why not just look him up and give him a call?

if you know the guys name you can check out the tax records on the local county auditors site ( if he owns a house), and find out where he lives.
