I have a 347 vic jr's 10.5 to 1 -EFI- I would like to run full timing on 104 octane do you think this is safe with a zex 125 shot?

I would run a colder plug with a close gap.

I'm no expert, but I believe the rule of thumb, is to take out two degrees, for evey 50 shot. That would be 5* pulled timing, for you to run a 125 shot.

And that too! :bigthumb

what I would like to know is. will the race gas let me run full timing? I allready spray this on pump gas 10deg. intial with no problems.

N/A .......

N/A .......

I'd say 12* and no more. Again, I'm no expert, but common sense says the more conservative, the better the motor will survive.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.. If I understand this right, your wanting to add 7 degrees of initial and hope the fuel is enough to stave off detonation? If you decide to run the 104, I wouldn't go straight to 17, you'll want to bump it up 1-2 degrees at time and sneek up on it. But hey, they're your pistons! =)

Sounds like you should get to a dyno and do some tuning. That way you can keep an eye on the air/fuel ratio and see if adding timing actually would make that much more power. Like Rick said you could then creep up on it till you safely find the limit. I think a couple hundred spent that way would be well worth it.

do you have the zex kit yet

been using it for a year. I have a wms stand alone and wide band in the car. I do my own tuning. I thought race gas would let me run more timing?

It will give you a safer range to run more timing...but basically it's just cheap insurance for your motor. You may find that you make more hp with the nitrous with less rather than more timing.

good for 125:rolleyes: maybe I need a bigger kit.

What ignition system / distributor do you have, and what is your timing at say..3,500 if its at 17deg. initial?

trying to run a NA curve on hi-comp + N2O is asking for melted pistons.

36-37 seems a little high to me for total timing. I would not try to spray the car with that much timing.

I run about 28-30 degrees total timing and pull 2 per 50hp. Vic Jrs on a 408

Exactly, and the key words there are, AND pull 2 degress per 50hp.

32deg total on pump gas (93oct.)made 4 runs air/fuel ratio 12.4-12.6 on a 125 shot no detonation that I could hear.---plugs looks great-- I dont know what to say. this car loves timming. I will take it to the track with 104oct. and bump it up till 37deg or it slows down. Maybe I have less compression than I was told or this zex kit SUCKS. Any thoughts?

Maybe cam, or cam timing? :dunno:

Have you checked your timing, with a different timing light? I can't see how it would make a difference, but who knows.

" If it feels funny....... LIFT" (Greg Barnett) Trust me, I didn't listen and it cost me my motor My advise is also to start very safe and sneek up on it. Or have you called ZEX and asked them????????
