I got these long tubes off a guy on here for the 89 stang. He said they fit AOD stangs. I've tried lifting the engine, going from the top, the bottom, nothing works. Any ideas? They do look different from the 5spd long tubes I have. Any ideas. I'm gonna try and take off the motor mounts tomorrow to see if they will clear. Thanks for any help.

What is it not clearing? Is it not fitting into/around the engine or the trans itself?

Sometimes taking the steering shaft off will give you enough clearance on the drivers side and pulling the starter will clear the passenger side. This is with leaning the engine to the opposite side.

I had the starter off already but it's getting hung up on the bellhousing where the starter goes. I was thinking about taking off the steering shaft tomorrow. I had my dad moving the motor side to side to try and get em to slide in. No luck. Thanks guys. I'll keep trying:D

Try removing the motor mount (not just disconnecting it) and place a block of wood under the front side of the oil pan rail. Jack the motor as far as you can to the side and drop the header collector under the starter bump then bring it up from underneath.

Got the passenger side on today. Did what you said Kev. Had to undo the tranny lines though. Thanks goodness I have a mini starter. Gonna try the driver side this weekend. The 5spd headers are soo much easier.:D Thanks guys! I'll keep you all posted.
